Interesting product. Kind of close to what I used in the subflooring of the first section in the attic, except this product looks more durable.

Well, wife got home and I got the cordless drill out of the Jeep and got the holes re-drilled so I could rewire the outlet.
Got that done and started on the insulation in that wall.
    I'll do more tomorrow.
Still haven't gotten back in the attic.

Woohoo, finally, finally, got back to this yesterday.
Pulled some more cedar paneling and found the same problem with the window header (knew this ). Pulled some insulation, foamed the header, then caulked.
Man, there was a lot of cold coming in. Same as the other corners.
This should be done from the outside I suppose, but not happenin' with all the snow and cold.
Oh, also foamed a spot in the ceiling where the old gable wall and new wall meet.
The "builder" didn't bother pulling the old gable trim off when this room was added on and it's in the way of getting much insulation in.
I was noticing a "bald spot" on the roof at this junction after a snow event....obvious heat leak. Hoping for a good result.
Wife is coming home from an extended visit with the grandkids today, so I may not get more done. I plan to make a nice dinner for her homecoming, although she'll probably be too tired to eat.
    Just thought I'd update.

Ended up making s batch of mini chocolate cupcakes (box), meatloaf with ground beef and some sweet Italian sausage with about 3 sliced onions on top, quartered red potatoes with garlic powder olive oil and a little salt, and some green beans for dinner.
I mentioned the cupcakes first, because her motto is "Life is short, eat dessert first". Guess what she ate first.
She had the meatloaf, etc. a little later.

I wanted to show what's going on with these wonderful aluminum sliders we have in the stove room.
    Here's a couple shots..... IMG_20140207_111703_944[1].jpg IMG_20140207_111709_666[1].jpg
Nice, eh? Think I'll pull the extension jambs and see what I can see. Give 'em a chance to dry out a little.
These windows (5 in the stove room, each is 4'x5') will eventually be replaced. I don't think I'll need to reframe.

    Condensation or leak from outside?

Is the condensation on the outer glass pane between the glass or on the outside?

Mostly condensation on the window frame, which then freezes, then melts, etc., etc., etc.
The condensation on the glass is on the inside of the outer pane, from what I can tell.
Here's another shot of the last ceiling bay next to the gable end that I just pulled back. Noticed some melting on the roof near this spot, so presumed there was leakage past the old insulation.
I think this shot confirms that.......

Okay, Dave beats me in turns of leakage and insulation issues.

Oh yeah, that is some that loss. Looks like I'll watch the progress of the work. I love a good demolition story. I'm sure what ever you do will make it much better. I'm curious how those sliders were installed that caused so much air leakage.

I'm not really noticing much air infiltration around the frames, it's all window.
They're real sloppy the way the sashes move in the tracks and how they seal......well, they actually don't.
I've caulked the windows in some places and most won't even open anymore (which ticks off my wife:rofl: ). They still leak.
The roof sheathing in that last shot had a coating of ice that has now mostly dried up, but it's still damp. I plan to put a temp piece of insulation there, then pull it again tomorrow to let it dry some more.
I need a small air flow baffle for that space......which may be out in the shop. I'll cut down the flanges to fit in that bay.
I need to take a good pic, but I need a little direction about extending power to another new outlet from an existing one. The existing outlet has the line coming in from the attic, then going back out and following the incoming line back into the attic to feed something I can't see.
Is it kosher to use pigtails in the box to run a line to another outlet?

Another question......see anything wrong above the window headers?
I'm really starting to love the guy (s) who built this place.
Notice massive sarcasm in my typing.
Also, would you guys pull the fillers between the two king studs and spray foam or just leave them and foam?

Here is a nice illustration from a carpentry book I use a lot.

I will read this thread as I went through a similar roof/ice dam issue on a poorly insulated sunroom. I had icicles in the window weight pockets when I pulled the wall open.

Do you have a soffit vent at the bottom end of the roof rafters? Edit: I caught up with your saga.

Jon, that was a bit of a rhetorical question.
There are no cripples above the header in line with the "trimmer"/"jack" stud.
All the soffits were blocked (purposely, by whoever built this monstrosity) before I tore into this.
All that got pulled and I put in soffit baffles and vents. I hadn't opened this small space, so didn't know about the issue I found until I did.
Finished pulling the paneling today, and foamed one of the remaining headers (too much stuff in the way to do the other right now).
Still contemplating how to finish the ceiling.

DOH! I forgot to post the pic of the headers.

Well, well, well. Looky what I found. Pulled the extension jambs from this window, and found this.
This is how badly these windows condense. The underside of the trim piece was partially rotted, and the 2x is starting to get bad too. I may rebuild this when the new windows get installed.
Between the window frame and under the header was fiberglass insulation jammed in, and it was wet. May be partly why the sill had a puddle on it.
Priced out replacements a couple days ago at the HD to get an idea. Right about what I thought.

I'm airing things out right now until at least tomorrow, with a fan directly on it after sopping this up with a towel.
Disgusted right about now. I knew they were messed up, but not this bad.
Did some more caulking and foaming today and yesterday.
I have a video to post, but I'll need to read the vid directions. Mp4.

Found the pic I took before I did the vid.
This is the n/w corner and once I pulled the insulation, I noticed the sheathing was slightly separated from the studs. When I got my head in the wall, I found this big air leak/gap.
It's now foamed. I pulled one of the corner studs and foamed in the corner too. There's foam everywhere.
