I am doing well my friend !

We have been cleaning & prepping for Thanksgiving cooking this a.m. - now it's 'start your engines' time ..here.

We are also roasting a new brand of pellet (to us) this morning, Spruce Pointes !
Both the Mrs., and the stove like them very much.. Nice & Toasty here! :campfire:

Heat-wise, they are a bit hotter than the LGs, and on-par with Lacrete's .. I'm guessing there is a higher Spruce content in the blend.

Gotta go get ordered around, I mean help, the Mrs. .. I'll be relaxing later !

    Have a wonderful day all!

New propane tank guys showed up around 9 this morning. I showed them where I hoped to place the tanks, next to the garage (instead of in the middle of the yard). They said to wait for the tech, but they thought I would have an issue with the garage window being to close (garage is under house). The tech showed up after the tank juys and I had shot the breeze for about 15 minutes.

Tech said if I covered the window with plywood and caulked it I would be good. Tank guys said they could drop the tanks in place and then they would lock them and the tech could set up the line, just not hook it up. Then when I had the window covered, I could call and they would unlock the tanks and tech guy could come back for the hookup.

Me; "I have plywood and a saw, and I'm not afraid to use them."

Them; looking surprised, asked when I thought I could get it done. Me , "in the next 10 minutes".

I got my tape and measured twice, then while tank guys were dropping the tanks, I cut the plywood, checked it against the window and trimmed off 1/2" from the long end for a good fit. Then went and got the screw gun and had the plywood in before they were done with their paperwork. Told them I would run into town and get caulk that could set up in these temps (around 30 and pretty windy and not expected to get much warmer). So, they got to leave for their next drop. The last thing the tank guys said to me was that they were appreciative that I could get the plywood set up so fast so they didn't have to lock the tanks and come back next week to unlock them. Also expressed appreciation for my handiness. This was a seriously simple task but I got a kick out of surprising them.

Techie's job wasn't so simple as he had to run a line around the corner of the house and cut it so he could thread it between the fence and the house. He finally got to leave around 11 after leak checking (one tank had a bad valve, so he had to replace it) and re-lighting my pilot lights. Right after he left I called Amerigas to pick up their tank then went into town to get RTV and then sealed up the plywood when I got home. Just think, if I didn't have pellet stoves I wouldn't have any idea that RTV would set up at a lot colder temps than regular caulk (I set up the former Hastings when it was in the 20's late 2014 so had to know that little tidbit)

I am seriously delighted that the tanks are out of the middle of the yard and can't wait for Amerigas to pick up their tank . First two pics are of old tank that will soon be gone. Last pic is of two new bottles and boarded up window.

    They are kicking ash!

Ash is slightly darker / medium grey, typical spruce .. The lighter grey ash is from the LGs . I kicked up combustion air about 20 RPM so the pellets were glowing bright, w/ blue flame tips.. Ash is light, blowing out of the burn pot ..
These babies are burning HOT.

Exit temp @ the Heat exchanger is about 5 - 7 degrees (f) warmer vs. the LG's, running at 1.4 lb/hr at the moment.

I'm finding exactly what G stated in the other thread (Thanks G!) - these are tasty pellets, very comparable to LaCrete's..

We are going to run these through tomorrow evening, then open up the Vanderhoof Platinum pellets, and give them a whirl. (The MWP blended bags in the pic, we'll wait until the weekend, in case any stove re-tuning is needed.)

Congrats B, you've been wanting to dump that old company for awhile now and get that tank out of the yard, really glad it worked out so well for you today.

Way to get it done!
