    As for words that exist but never did I know them until I came to this podunk little town down yonder in this bass ackward part of VA, one of my adopted faves has got to be:
    Dooflotchy
    Anything that needs a name may be referred to as a dooflotchy, dooflatchee, dooflotcher, etc.

    We had a teacher one time who proved he did not know much about farming. He thought in the book that hereford and heifer were the same thing; just misspelled. He looked sort of dumbfounded when I pointed out to him what was wrong with his thinking.

    btw, do you know how they say heifer in Chinese? Young cow.
