Been windy since Saturday. Big Spruce limbs in the front yard blowing back and forth kept setting off the motion light on the front porch. There were times when it didn't shut off for 1/2 hour. Drove the dogs crazy, thinking someone was coming up the walk....which drove us crazy trying to get 'em to shut up. Fun times, fun times.
Wind is the only way the tree I cut on Saturday was dropping. It started to go, but the wind caught it just before I got the hinge where it needed to be. I got outta' Dodge, and it went down a few minutes later. Wind can be your friend, and sometimes your foe.
I'll load the stove up tonight. NWS pushed back the snow until this evening and tonight with 4"- 7" expected. Tonight's low of 22°F with 30mph gusts should make it feel like it's - 10°F
Forgot to mention, the wind shift put the tree back down on the very tip of the bar. I saw it coming, but wasn't quick enough. It loosened up just enough to get it out, then I lit out. Got far enough away so I could watch the "kerf" open and close. It was interesting, to say the least. Gooder thing my heart's in decent shape, 'cause it was pounding just a wee bit. ETA: Funny thing is, it went down right where I aimed it.
Nice and windy today and pretty cold so cleaned out the chimney and the flu to it from the stove and lit off the first fire of the season. Was gonna be just pine but went out and grabbed a basket of soft maple to mix in/ overnight. Probably go 24/7 until Friday and then it might be too warm out.
23 degrees out and 71 inside..... I need to move to South Carolina. I dislike winter a little more each year..... Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
