Holz Hausen is work in process. 6' tall 10' diameter. First time trying this method. Kinda fun Slowly filling the center. Temporary stack Another cord Stacked up. Just a few i'll share more in the future. I always thought i was just a firewood prepper, but now I realize that i'm really a firewood hoarder!! Very happy I found Firewood Hoarders Club. Thanks everyone OregonBlacktail
Bushpilot would be correct. We are predominant Douglas fir area, along with alder, maple and cedar. East of the cascades you'll find ponderosa pine, juniper. Southern part of the state you get into oak, madrone. I use mostly Douglas Fir because I can get for almost nothing. Oak around here sells for 375-450 a cord even though i'm always on the look out for hard woods on the cheap(yard clean-up, wind falls). After big storms trees come down and you can get it for hauling it away. OregonBlacktail

Hi Hinerman, I normally start out like this: Then I always end up renting this from our local rental store. For $60 a day we can get a lot of wood split.
Very nice! I've been doing this for a long time but I still can't stack that neat! Welcome to the land of Woodenheads where we feed off each other's illness!
