I don't use sledge n wedge much , it was the best option for that chunk , had to bust it in half to finish it with the splitter . If I had your rig I would have been all set
I cut this eucalyptus up for my farther in law today. That's my 088 hanging out the top the 30" bar was not long enough. The 088 and MS660 having a rest after the work was done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I didn't fall it,. But the guys were nice enough to drive them over to my dad's drive way when they took it down. It's a pin oak and dad saw them taking it down and asked if I could come get the wood
Nice pics there leoht, very nice to meet a new international member. That is the first Eucalyptus tree I've ever seen, and I have you to thank for that. How does it burn? Are you using it in a stove or in an outside pit?
Thanks NH mountain man. Eucalyptus burns very well. There are many different types that particular one is a stringy bark tree. The best around my area are Sugar gum, Red gum and yellow box. However stringy is the most common within 20 minutes of home, it's still good stuff. 2 or 3 12" long x 5-6" diameter pieces would keep my stove going for up to 8-12 hours heating my whole house. It doesn't get as cold here as it does in New Hampshire. It's midnight here and 55 F outside and a pleasant 68 F inside. Fire is not going. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
These are not the biggest I've cut, just the biggest I have pics of. And the Stihl 024 Wood Boss did the job. it took a little time though.
I like looking at the pics of the big'uns and have done a few over the years but I am now in the bad back careful hoard.....lol....
Yes. It's usually pretty hot by November but we have a late start to summer, I still had the stove going a couple of nights last week. The wether is forecast for 86F today and 90F tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
90F is a nice day! By January it will be 100-110F most days. The hottest day at home was 115F in the shade with 6% humidity and 50 mph wind gusting up to 60 mph. That day is known in Australia as Black Saturday.Black Saturday bushfires - Wikipedia Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes this one was about 80' they can grow to about 270' in the mountains. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Welcome to the forum leoht btw, that 30" bar should be well long enough. You do not have to have the bar go all the way through a log to cut it! I cut 30"+ diameter logs with a 16" bar and it does just fine.
Yep I know what your saying. But bigger is always better! plus it was the perfect excuse to go buy one of these. The largest I have cut with that saw was a 6' Red gum that had about an 8" hollow. It was hard work climbing up on top and cutting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
