Picking up a slightly used MS 880 tomorrow, with a 24 inch bar, and a 36 inch bar. Assuming it has been through normal homeowner use (Hoarder approved use and abuse), what would this be worth with the saw, bars, at 2-3 years old? Will post the deal later to see what the group range looks like.

Not quite what I would call a "homeowner" saw! That thing is a beast! I used one once and discovered quickly that you better be in shape to cut all day! With a 25" bar it should cut through so fast you'll have more on top of things the you ever imagined! I think you'll have a lot of fun!

I'm thinking somewhere in the $1000 to $1200 range, but that's a shot in the dark!

I would not go over 1000... seems these saws in the northeast are generally bought buy boys that need the biggest.. that is a heavy saw! yeah they are fun once in a while:D but what are you gonna do with it? I assume milling.. it's like 5lbs heavier then a 660 without a bar.. so I just wonder how often you will grab it when your 461 is soooo much lighter and sitting there but hey that's just me.. not trying to talk you out of a saw used 1.... 2 times... like 461 much better.. a 661 is biggest I would ever get for cutting trees.. milling I don't know...

I have a 661 and only have one tree left that is big enough for that saw. My 461 can pretty much take care of what I need to cut.

Yeah, I admit it; I bought the 661 in a mad fit of CAD! I need help, that's why I'm here, to get help for my CAD problem!

Why $880 sounds like a logical price tag.

    But it's a Stihl, so add 25%

Getting it for $1100, but I figured if it is in great shape when I see it, it's a good deal. I will check it closely. Milling is in my future. :dex:

I'd pay $1100 for nice ones all day long. But when they are not nice, price drops in a hurry, parts for those are quite spendy. I've bought, built, and sold many of them. If you are looking to flip it, you're not gonna make much, but $1100 for a nice one that you are the end user on? Yep, all day, every day...

So you're saying you paid 125% of $880?

Ok, do I at least get to see pics for my prize?

That's a clean saw. My old 088 looks a bit ratty but it still cuts great. There's nothing quite like the sound of an 880/088 cutting under load.

Heavy yes but it will make your other saws seem lighter!

I spent a couple of hours yesterday cutting with the 088 then picked up the MS660 and thought g this things nice!
