My Dutchwest stove

What year is the truck SS ? 89-90 ? That is one of my favorite body styles.

 

It's an 88 ford F-250 4x4 5 speed stick, 460 engine. bought it brand new in 89. put antique license plates on last year.

 

Thanks, it's beat up more than it looks in that pic, Ole truck has been to hell and back several times.lol, inside of the tailgate is about flat from throwing logs and other heavy objects on it. Front bed is bent all the way to the cab,Tire blowed out and rolled a fender up years ago, I straightened it out. Air conditioner don't work, hasn't for a few years. Most of the gauges quit about the fourth year I had it. and it gets a whopping ten miles to the gallon empty with a strong wind behind it's back.

 

It will take care of ya for many more years probably, Mine has been abused, I do keep the oil changed every 4000 miles. But it don't have a lot of miles on it, only 80,000. I have used it mainly for cutting wood and used to hunt in it. Didn't drive it to work cause it got terrible mileage, I bought a 2000 model Dodge 2500 diesel in 2001. it has 21,000 on it when I bought it. it has 217,000 now. then diesel went sky high and I bought a motorcycle to ride to work. rode it year round until I retired this summer. it has 65,000 on it.

 

had it 13 years and it's been a good one, that year model had the bad fuel system on it with the weak lift pumps. I eventually took all that mess of and replaced it with a Fass Fuel System. Problem solved. The old lift pumps would get weak and burn up the injector pump. I put in some gauges to keep track of it. The one under the dash is fuel pressure gauge.

I feel for for ya, that's a bad pain. it will get better with time, but you also know as I do. Once the spine is injured it stays that way. what really makes you mad is when you can work like a mad man picking up heavy stuff and moving heavy equipment and then hurt it bending over or turning around like I did mine a while back.

 

I'm not sure how I hurt it this time.

I did just buy an inversion table......I'm gonna try hanging on it.

Got an '01. Had the lift pump tested at 103K. Barely registered. Put a Glacier pump on it. Now at 220K. No problems. Factory injector pump. Now have gauges.

 

I've been running the Ws Keystone this year but I need to do some work on it so I'll stick the Dutchwest 2460 back in soon. I need to seal a few seams, put an air distributor in, and she'll be ready to go. I'm a little leery of taking it all the way apart and totally re-building it, for fear that the panels are warped and I won't get it back together. Really like that stove; Great (grate) ash system, convection, front door makes for start-ups easy, and it's a good-looking stove. I'll keep it forever, probably. It was my first modern stove, and it has a place in my heart.
I had it back in the fireplace, top-vented, and got the blower for it shortly before I put in the Keystone. That blower was pulling a huge amount of heat off the stove. I'm anxious to see what the stove will do out on the hearth, where it can radiate better. With the short leg kit, the Dw is the same flue height as the Ks, which is handy.

That's one big Oak, right there!
Looks a lot like here; A Dw stove, Stihl saws, lots of Red/Black Oak. You got some bigger sawing and hauling equipment, and you're gonna need it for trees like that!

Hard to believe you're burning that much wood down there; I might go through two cords this year, heating 1000 sqft. I don't have much insulation but I have fixed a few bad air leaks within the last month. I didn't enjoy it when the house dropped to 60 during that first cold snap, with that wind. It's down around zeero outside but 66 was the lowest it got in here. Got a fresh load of Pignut firin' right now. No wind, which helps....

 

I love that truck! I had an 89 F350 dually with 4:10 rear end and a 5 speed. I drove that truck for years and years and that engine was a beast. I pulled horse trailer loaded down with horses halfway across the US and the only thing I had to stop for was gas (Alot).........
