Wife wants to dump coin on pot...whats ur experience?

    my cast iron pans are seasoned with olive oil and butter

    I sautee a lot of good things in olive oil and butter

    For Teflon coated pans, go calphalon. Great stuff, not too expensive. But yes, no metal spatulas and stuff. All clad is better, but more $.

    Cuisinart is great, sur la table is good too. Steer clear of circulon.

    Meijer is better than Wal-Mart.

    Oh yeah, you can always get 20% off calphalon at bed bath and beyond. Coupons are available online.

    Do they work as "non-stick"? OR are they just a gimmick?

    Gotham and Red Copper don't seem to get very good reviews.

    You use them like SS/Cast Iron - some kind of oil or fat to stop adhesion ?
    Using nothing seems to be a common theme in some of the "bad" reviews.

    Even when I had a teflon pan I used some kind of oil or fat in the pan. Habit I guess.

    Yes, "nonstick" and does not appear to be a gimmick. This particular one we were given has S/S on the bottom and a metal handle that one could put in the oven too.

    Same here, as a habit I use Olive oil cooking spray for everything. I have head very good luck with my pan. Use it pretty much everyday.
