I marked the beam with a shallow mark made with a narrow cut off wheel in the angle grinder, it hasn't worn off yet.:D

IMG_1228.JPG IMG_1230.JPG I don't often split horizontally but without the table, it would be a lot less. And it protects the engine.
I Still need a stroke limiter.

Sounds like fun, but I think Somebody already beat you to it! :axe: :D:rofl:

Tim's seen it in action, but I sense most of you will be skeptical. In addition to the superior splitting speed, and Diesel power; it can even fell trees, haul them out of the woods, and stack up the splits afterwards. It even makes a mean BBQ! :grizz:

As far as mods go, course it doesn't need much, but I have added additional beer storage this year.:rofl:

20161109_125512.jpg It took a little longer than I expected, but I finally got a pic. I use the vise to hold the saw when I need to sharpen a chain.

tree killer I have a splitter like that that pushes a plate best mod I did to it was take a welder and weld dots on the push plate.. sometimes branches are crooked or a cut not perfectly straight (yup I am not perfect) gives the push little grip..

1111160809.jpg I bought this homemade splitter and after having to do some work to it get going in the first place, I realized it needed some modifications. Two are shown here. One is the tables which had to removable because of the hitch being so close to the wedge. They are interchangeable from one side to the other. The other shown here is the pieces welded to pusher to keep logs form shooting off of the splitter. It was really pretty scary using it before I welded these on. There is one other improvement I would like to show but I will have to get it out the shed first.

Finally built a stroke limiter. The simplest design I could come up with that was easily bypassed for storage or loaning out.
The bolt holes are oversized to prevent the bolts from shearing off, the log stripper takes the (considerable) load. Lock nuts to set pivot tension. No rattles.

    Almost 1/3 faster for free.

Steel grate over hydraulic filter for protection and a place to sit halves so I don't have to bend over to the ground. And a lexan cover over motor and a stop on table to keep splits from vibrating off.
