Well I have been contiplating cleaning the chimney , the guy who cleans it every year said as little as he has gotten out of it for the past 4 years told me to skip this year and do it next year. Last year I went through less wood then the past 3 years. maybe a face cord or less. Whats your thoughts, all the wood I burn is dried 4-5 years so build up isn't a issue. Does anyone else clean every other year?
Sure ain't much wood. I wouldn't worry about it a lick. But it's not me and not my chimney. Can you look from the top down? Is the underside of the cap clean?
You would probably be just fine. I never get hardly anything out of mine but I always feel better at least having a look.
Many times it is fine to go a couple years or more without cleaning. However, never forget that it does not take long to check it; just in case and for peace of mind. We can usually easily go 3 years or more without cleaning here but it still gets checked, probably twice every year.
A face cord!!! heck most of us burn 6 to 9x that a season easy and can then go 2 years without cleaning so I would not worry one bit with 4 year split wood. I's this stove for looks? Live in one of those tiny house trailers , or a very tiny second stove? that's hardly any wood?
