I think this is red maple, not silver. Splits nice and straight. I had a ash tree like that a while back, first one I've run into like that. Put my splitter through a workout.

Does TW stand for taco world? I'm hungry now. I do need to test drive a new Taco though now that they have a new 3.5 v6 in then though. You still can get them in 6sp manual. I just wish they were not so expensive. I was pricing one online and . Granted it was a 4 door TRD Pro. But still, I can get a pretty loaded f150 for that price.
Haha, yeah it's definitely not a wood hauler. I make do though. Upgraded leaf pack and shocks help, just not much room in it, even with the 6' bed. I can't imagine the 5.5'. If I was doing this as a business or even heating 24/7 I would probably have to get something much larger, this works for me though. And yes, it is quite capable off road, Unfortunately the great state of NY doesn't really seem to believe in public use trails and land for off-roading so there's not much around here.

campinspecter added airbag suspension on our Tacoma, both the older one and the newer one. Helps with the balance and stability. He has to haul his wood loads on the highway to get them home.
Got through the rest today, came out with a good amount. A few were pretty rotted so the centers of those went into the fire pile. Two real big ones were rotted past the point where I thought it was worth the bother so they will both be burned in the pile also.
I think that is silver maple. Talk about having a nice present given to you!!!! I'd keep in mind a nice dinner or something for that family.

RCBS Yeah, my rear bumper was rotted out. Was going to replace with stock but pelfreybilt had a 15% off sale going on last year. Was only a bit more as a new oem bumper but then with shipping and coating it was way more. Very few of the rear bumpers have a built in hitch, that was a necessity for me.
I am to the point where I just build my own bumper for the back end now. $400 + for some stamped tin (oem) just isn't worth it. They might not be real pertty but are functional and dont fold up right away with the slightest bump. Got an older plasma cutter a few days ago- haven't had any time to play with it yet - but should be just the ticket for installing lights in the bumper, among other things.
My grandfather was reinforcing his bumpers back in the 1950s with a cut off piece of railroad rail. Needless to say folks who were used to giving bumpers a gentle bump to help them slow down on snow and ice got a bit of a surprise.
Many years ago at trade school, Instructor decided that he had had enough of bumper tag. He got a bunch of used guard rail like in the freeways and as this was a welding class had us install it all the way around his stationwagon- remember the electric bumper cars at the fairs and such that is what it looked like afterwords.
