The sad reality is that it resembles my bed last night, Dear husband, then lil one and 2 dogs made their way on sometime during the night and I ended up balancing on the edge of the bed the rest of the night. No doubt I tell the dogs to get down and they do, but they are up on it again the minute I nod off. Hmm. savemoney had a hilarious cartoon about it awhile back.

Actually that will make the cat hotter for body temp. The fur is a wonderful insulator - keeping out both hot and cold (to a degree) Ever wonder how black cats can lay in the sun when it is 100*? That's it, the heat doesn't make it to the body.

Bentley after a staged deer recovery. Staged because it flopped. No blood trail to follow but he still "found" his deer.

Are you raising them for the wool, the meat or selling the lambs?

Icelandics are considered "triple-threat" i.e. wool, meat and milk. Ours are officially registered too, so that adds value when selling as breeding stock, which we would prefer; but, of course, we will eventually have some lambs that we can't sell as breeders, so they will go to the butcher.

Plus Lawn Mowers.... I'm surprised they are already roaming like that. Do they know where home is now or do you have to lead them?

I have always wanted to learn how to card and spin wool. Maybe someday when I retire.

They are not now and never will be allowed to roam outside of a fence. "Home" is wherever they feel like plopping down at the end of the day. Traditionally, Icelandic sheep are left to roam wild. So, they are very hardy. Sometimes ours go into the shelters and lay on hay. Other nights, they just plunk down in the middle of the pasture.
