The old rotten hemlock has been down for about two weeks so I finally rolled it up over a stump and down the hill.

This area needed some cleanup bad so I started it today, the bigger pine logs along with the smaller ones were bucked up and then split. I also brought them over to the outdoor heater for some future burning.

All the smaller stuff will get picked up tomorrow, there are some good splits of maple in there so they'll get stacked with the pine.

I didn't get an after picture but I'll have one tomorrow. 102_0710-001.JPG

We had some good wind the other day so all the leaves are pretty much down now, I can clean the rest of them up and be done with that

I finished up the junk wood in this area this morning. Picture 0711 is the freshly split pine from this area I did yesterday, picture 0712 is what I had left for work in this area today and picture 0713 is how it looks all picked up.

I finally took this stump out and then buried it, I'll finish packing it down and make sure there are no bumps tomorrow.

When you bury a stump and packed down the dirt on it, do you get a sink hole when the stump rots? I guess it would take a few years for it to show. The roads around here were basically logging roads paved over. they were built on stumps and roots. Now, the roads are sinking out of sight in a few places.

I pack down the stump before the dirt and then pack down the dirt. I'm sure that will happen some but I plan on adding leaves and some pine needles on top when needed.

The first thing I did this morning was move the sand our neighbor gave us up in the woods and then I filled three five gallon buckets with sand which are drying out in the basement. We have a large garbage can full from last year so we should be fine.

I spent the rest of the day smoothing out the areas that I buried stumps, after running over those areas with the tractor to pack it down, I added more sand on top and packed it down again, they're sled ready.

We'll see if we can burn some of the pine from the trail clearing tomorrow, once I get some good coals even the wet stuff should burn.

It was a wet one out there today, snow bombs coming off the pines all day.

The fire going in the snow looks so neat. It would be something I would gravitate to just to enjoy it.

I would've been better if it wasn't for the snow bombs.

We started to lose some snow on Thursday and even more today, by the middle of next week we won't have any.

We needed the snow and then the melt after last winter (lack of) and the dry summer.

That's for sure, so long as it's white by Christmas, I'm happy

This old pine was down for a while so I decided to use some hydraulics, it's all over by the outside fireplace.

In picture 0778 you can see where the trail will run but I still have some of the small stuff left that will need to be cleared.

It was a wet day with rain all day and then turning to snow.

Pic 0830 was full of wood that I moved yesterday which opened up a trail, 0831 is some sand that I put on the stump in pic 0832, pic 0833 are some turkey, 0834 is the stump covered with sand, I'll mark it so we don't hit it with the sled, I took out a small stump in pic 0837 & 38 and 39.
