It's another section of that big maple in the background poor tree is hollow where the 4 leaders come together. Blocked it this am and split it into quarters and brought the quarters to the splitting stack before lunch. Just for perspective the Dolmar is wearing a 34" bar

It reminds me to give some thought to my dad who lives far away. This was him back in WWII but his official job was gunner in a tank. He landed with the Canadian troops on D-day and was involved in the first attack at Le Mesnil Patry. He never really talks about his experiences during the war as a member of the First Hussars.

We had the warmest day for the Remembrance day ceremony that I can recall. The family and I go to show our respect every year no matter what the weather.

My step dad, honestly, my true father, and all my uncles served in WWII. Truly the greatest generation. My hat is off to all who served, and answered the call when asked.

Today was a Veterans Day that hit pretty hard. Usually it's filled with proud thoughts of my grandfather who served in Korea and other friends and family who have or are serving but today I went to the funeral of a Green Beret whom I've known since we were five that was killed last week in Afghanistan :salute::usa:

Can't "Like" that but wanted at least to lend a shoulder to ya J....:handshake:
Our Armed Service members may or may not have to make the ultimate sacrifice, but when one close to our hearts moves on, it's never easy to deal with. My heart goes out to you in your time of grieving.:tears:
May your friend be at peace, and may we remember his service to our country.

Thank you to all who served so I could enjoy my freedom. Went out with a large group of friends last night, 4 of whom are vets of our most recent conflict. Was proud to see them, spend time with them and call them friends. Thank you to all.

I'm proud to have so many uncles who fought in WWII. Sadly, but maybe not so sad that they are all resting now.
