I ended fall bow two weeks ago with an 8pt over at my buddies place and tagged out for permit bow near my place this morning! I've been watching this old 8pt since summer. He disappeared for the last few weeks but showed up today and came in following my scent drag to 10yds. Now I'm off till monday and tagged out for bucks. Guess I'll get to splittin!

    Beautiful buck. Congratulations.

Buck I wanted did not make it through last weekend or so I heard yesterday. So, hoping one comes wandering by and that quite often happens here; the older bucks come wandering by around mid-November.

Nice buck ! Happy you have had a great season. My woods have been very slow. Hoping to turn things around this weekend.

Thanks guys! I've put a good amount of time in the woods this season and tried to alternate spots so i didn't put too much pressure on one. It definitely paid off. They started showing early signs of the rut around here a few weeks ago and it's in full blown mode now. From about twenty minutes after i got in the stand there was a buck chasing doe's, grunting in the brush in front of me. This guy stepped out and pushed some yearlings back into the brush and chased them around for a few minutes.

Thank God i used a scent drag yesterday because this buck was on a mission, nose to ground walking away at 50yds until he hit my drag line. He stopped, turned towards me and came in to 10yds. Even after I shot him the other buck was still chasing the doe in the brush. Definitely one of those mornings I'll remember.

I saw 2 bucks on the run yesterday in the middle of the day just driving around. I hope they don't get paired up before the weekend and stop moving.

Did something today I have not done for a while. I missed my buck. A nice 8 point chasing a doe. Funny that the doe was running and just suddenly went flop and bedded about 15 yards from my blind. I knew the buck would not be far behind and he wasn't. I had to act fast and made a wrong decision. No excuses, just simply missed. But, I also saw 2 other bucks. One came right to where that doe had bedded but I did not want him as he was only a spike. A big spike, but I'll pass on those.

Your buck must have that doe on lock down if she bedded down like that. It's amazing how quick things can happen in a matter of minutes. Maybe you'll get him next time
    Don't worry. We all miss

I was not able to hunt last night or this morning but got a picture of him this morning about 20 yards from where he was yesterday.

Thanks! Dressed 135lbs. That pretty big for a south jersey deer.

I skinned him out today and im curious how old he really is. Gonna have a friend take a look at his teeth. His legs were all grey as was his chest and nose.

Looked bigger. That's small for an 8 point up here. My biggest is 228. A 12 year old kid shot an 11 pt. on Youth Day this year that was 248. But don't get me wrong. I'd shoot deer like that all day long. It kills me to hear guys on here saying they passed up an 8 pts. because they weren't big enough. We don't have a big herd, only around 200,000 statewide. So if you're hunting for meat, you pretty much shoot the first thing you see.
