I had to touch it up a few times but good clean wood & mossy, lichen ground
    The chain held up well.

Then I go to cut a few hats for snowmen & I bump a rock in the grass
    Not once but TWICE
Last cut was throwing dust & the saw was screaming at me.

I'll sharpen it up but it PIZZZD me off.
All that cutting & at home doing just a few cuts I'll have to really sharpen
    it now.
More filing than I did for 6+ cords

Hey Dave, you could've hit that rock on the first day with the new chain instead....then you'd really be mad!!!

    Yea
I was hurrying, saw was almost out of gas.
Saw sparks, new I'd screwed up.

    You're right
Not that big a deal, one more thing to put on the "to do" list.

You know it when it happens but you're just hoping it wasn't fubared as bad as you think, then when you start making sawdust you know you screwed up

Man I hate when that happens.... I was put the 25" bar on the 461 few days ago to hack up so bigger red oak chunks.... well sure enough same thing happened as you discribed, minus sparks.... it was a damm glass bottle and it messed the chain up pretty bad....i swear when I rock a chain on something it's always on the 25" bar, makes for a long sharpening session!!!

Well I must add rocked chains won't bother me AS bad in w week or two.... I am getting a 511ax grinder, so hopefully it will make those situations easy to deal with!!!

Lucky you can cut into moss , lichen and snow. here I have an 1/8 of hardwood leaves and a tiny bit of duff then mineral soil. you have to stop and roll the log or just barely cut till the other side of bark with the tip so you don't knick dirt

I got a rail road spike a couple of weeks ago....buried in an old fence line tree. lets just say that chain went to my grinder and the hand file wasnt going to touch it....

Last month I went through the loop of a big screw eye on the second cut with a new ripping chain. It was the first time I'd ever hit a serious piece of metal in a tree, so I misunderstood what was happening and didn't back off. When I went to set it up on the grinder I discovered a large fraction of the teeth weren't there anymore.

I've hit nails here from yard trees.
Were pretty soft , went thru it fast
but right away I went from throwing chip to making sawdust

3 pieces of 3/4" glued together
    2-1/4"

Screwed to a piece of 3/4" (roughly a 3' square) plywood that I clamp to a work bench top

ThinkI used a 5/8 " bolt/all-thread , drilled & tapped the end & put a piece of aluminum on the end for the threaded jaw
I glued in a nut but threading a bolt thru the wood, drill the hole a size small, would work.
