Another thing about keyboards the SwiftKey keyboard is better than anything that comes on a handheld device, fully customizable and note the back and forward Arrow buttons.

Yeah, I know that's an option, the keyboard for tablets, but while I use speech to text or the voice control on my phone a lot while I'm in the car, or on my own, I couldn't use voice to text for surfing. I'm sure it would drive my wife crazy, as I do most of my surfing while we're watching TV.

Are you talking about surfing or posting ?
Yes, absolutely, voice recognition is not going to work out for everyone all the time but it works well for me, I post while watching TV also.
Not everything works for everyone, there is always more than one way to do it:)

Both surfing and posting. It's one in the same to me.

Surfing is just clicking around looking at things, reading , watching videos, not typing, to me:)

Also surfing means looking at all the goodies online that you can buy, but you have to have self control:D

The problem with "just surfing" is this IS the internet, so eventually you'll see somebody that's wrong so you HAVE to join in on the discussion and set them right! lol

I've been considering one for quite a while, but never got serious about it until my wife suggested these for the girls.
It was funny, because while we were talking about it, I could tell she wanted one, so I asked if I should also just order one for each of us too.
Why, of course! She cracks me up. She's been getting books from the online MEL (Michigan Electronic Library) for quite a while, but they're still paper.
She can now just DL them to the tab and read. Lots of other reading is available too.
    They'll be here tomorrow.

    Almost ordered the 10".
That's heading into laptop size......I have laptops. :headbang:
Let's see, wife's old one from about 5 years ago, my old one from before that (I put it out in the shop), that runs on the warmish side, the one I've had for almost 3 years (battery is almost dead), another that we're giving to granddaughter #1, and my wife's new one from a few months ago (long story about that purchase).

The 8 is about 12 oz, so much easier to lug around instead of the laptop, which weighs about 6-6.5.
Kinda like carrying around a full can of beer.....that's real flat. The can, not the beer.:picard:
Did I just derail my own thread with beer?

Tablet: This is how I go about deciding what tablet to get:

    • First I write down a list of things I'd like to do with it. (Must have, have, nice to have)
      • Video - (Must have for when I travel)
      • Email - (Must have for when I travel)
      • Surf the internet - (Must have for when I travel)
      • Track softball games. - (Nice to have for me)
      • You get the idea.
    • Second research or go to the store to determine if the tables you are looking at can do the primary things you want to do.
    • Make a list of the tables that will meet you must haves.
    • Read review on sites like www.newegg.com or Amazon (make sure you read the negative comments to make sure there is nothing that would pertain to you.)
    • Purchase.
Some secondary advice when it comes to tablets. For me, my family all has iPones and I use a MacBook Air at home. Since I am already in the Apple family, it makes sense for me to stick with it. Apps like iMessage are only available on Apple devices. This is something I personally take into account.

Just my two cents. Hope that helps.
