Thank you sir-I put a lot of time and planning into it, from expanded metal flooring 12" off the ground, shadow-boarded ends, facing south for max sun exposure and into the prevailing west to east winds...I appreciate the compliment-I dry oak and locust in 18 mos max, rest is ready in 12...of course we have hot summers too...Hope all are well and warm!

Thank you jatoxico, seems like yesterday...SO wants the new "fashion" of placemats and center piece out of wood cookies-gonna take my first stab with the hickory...the chemical to prevent splitting of green wood is evidently Pentacryl...kinda pricey but thats where you start,,,then sand then finish of choice-instead of poly, I'll prob go with Watco IMG_4646.JPG IMG_4648.JPG Danish Finish Oil that I used on the cherry from my farm wainscoting, bar wrap and door trim...Of course I'll post pics...

You can use Denaured Alcohol instead of Pentacryl for a cost savings.
Save a few more of your $.02 for later....

Yes sir, homemade log skidders pulled by side-by-sides-they have a band-mill, thats the cousins farm that borders mine-they hauled countless logs down the hill while I was cutting-he's clearing some 30 acres of pasture, mostly hickory...letting anyone cut who wants to help clear-he has 10 head of cattle now,,,wants 20-25 eventually-benefits us both

Was supposed to bow hunt this morn but at 0500 the ATV decided the battery was done-went to shop and got 2 new much needed front tires...so this afternoon, the hickory and oak made the rail rack IMG_4659.JPG IMG_4662.JPG IMG_4665.JPG

Thank you sir! Now if I could just get Eric VW to bring me say 6-7 good rounds I could finish the rail rack and get it covered, be done til hunting season is over. He could just throw them in the boot and be here in 2hrs??? IDK about that boy :binoculars::startled::picard::rofl:

Mentioned the SO wants wood cookie placemats and a center piece...not going too good...I noodle this and didnt get it uniform in thickness...and the hickory wrecked both my chains...either gonna enlist a friend with a band saw or splurge and go Shawn Curry and get the chain saw milling device-I do think hickory will make beautiful pieces... IMG_4661.JPG And EVW said denatured alcohol does the same as pentacryl to prevent splitting...Anyways...this is where the sawdust came from in the pics...thought would be a simple project-few cuts, lil soaking, lil sanding...:picard:
