Menards has a big sale going on their wood stoves and I have a Menards in my home town.

The neat thing about Menards is they will ship any stove to their store for pickup for free.

This can save upwards to like $250 in some situations just the free shipping.

I was able to move up from my 2.1 cu ft stove to a listed 3.1 cu ft stove but in its manual its listed as a 3.3.

The stove I got was a Myriad by Drolet. On sale for $689 , $300 off their regular price.

So I am thinking I saved about $500 with the free shipping.

I just changed my Avatar Pic.

Did you pick it up yet?

I special ordered an 8" DSP adapter a few years ago, and stopped to pick it up on my way back to the yard with a big truck. Well, you can't just walk in the store to carry out a 5lb item, you have to drive thru the gate and around back like you're picking up lumber. Try to explain that to the guard that wants me to open up the trailer so he can inspect it. After he finally let me thru, I go inside and they can't find my adapter. I finally found it out on the floor. Somebody had put it out on the shelf. And then go back thru the gate and explain to the same gaurd, show him the box and tell him that I am not stealing anything, and try to get out. I was there for over an hour , and I could have had it shipped to my house for less than $10.

Jeff, I picked up an item yesterday that I special ordered. Worked great. Guy in back brought it right up front for me on a table cart. Would have even came out to the parking lot to help load it but I got it done all alone. It probably depends upon the store as to their policies.

X2.. Maybe now you can leave kindling alone when going for a long burn. 3 cu ft is a big box. Use big seasoned splits and save the small sticks for starting fires :)

Congrats.... But you know the saying?? :D

No pics?? Never happened ;) Waiting.

Can I ask what made you go with that stove? We have a 2.0CF Quad and looking to upgrade to a 3.0+ stove this year. We worry that the lower cost units like that will have quality issues. I'm not putting it down, just trying to educate myself on options. Looking at the Enerzone 3.4 and I think it's the same company as the Drolet.
Thanks for the help and enjoy the new stove.

I can't speak to Drolet specifically, but the Englander 30 can be had for $899 and I don't see that stove having any issues with it that wouldn't come up with any other non-cat stove (fiber/ceramic baffle, gasket replacement).

Are there better looking stoves than the low cost, economic steel stoves? Sure. But I'm not a fan of the look of a steel stove to begin with. I'd rather have cast iron or soapstone. But, in the end, I want to be warm. And the big ugly looks just fine in my big fireplace.

I have no regrets buying the 30. I plan on moving to a BK King when I can find a used one, but that is not a knock against the low cost steel stoves. Running multiple stoves, I need super long burn times so I'm not running around all winter loading stoves.

If you are thinking about upgrading to a larger stove, do not be put off by the cheaper steel stoves. The difference between a 2 cu ft stove and a 3.5 cu ft stove is huge. It makes things a lot easier throughout the winter.

I like the s/s baffle system in the Drolet's, you can't remove them but they are stout and you don't have to worry about damaging them while reloading.

Nice buy HuntinDog and you can't beat the delivery.:) Is that top flat? The only thing I would worry about is high temps and warping issues. Keep us posted.

Other places sell that same stove for $1300. The big stores are chain stores and can sell the stove at a cheaper cost as its the volume that they move that allows them to get cheapers deals on the stoves. I have read all the reviews on the stove and havent found a bad one except for the ones that are trying to burn wet wood and those dont count. One fellow on hearth site named tekguy said he was impressed with the workmanship and quality of the stove once he got it and looked it over. If you go too northern supply website ,you can read the 56 reviews on the stove. An all steel stove can be made with automated equipment which lowers the cost. Plus these stoves are made with robotic welding equipment and the welds are very nicely done. One guy said the welds are really nice compared to some stoves he looked at. SBI is in Canada who makes Drolet, Osburn , Century Heating, Flame, PSG, Enerzone, Valcourt .

The Myriad and Austral are said to be very heavy made stoves as alot of stoves use 3/16" steel this one has heavier 5/16" I know on the top plate and maybe in other areas also. Its limited lifetime warranted so that says alot as many stoves are not.

How close in firebox (actual size, not comparing 3.4 cu ft to 3.1 cu ft) are the Enerzone 3.4 and the Drolet Myriad?

I only ask because sometimes there is a crossover stove? My Enerzone Eurostar is the same as the Osburn 5000. Same goes for the Enerzone Euromax, is the same as the Drolet Eco-65. Granted these are pellet units, but there are many divisions of SBI and some of the units are shared?

Maybe the Firebox of the 3.4 is in another unit? (I didn't look at any pics or links above. This is just a general observation of pellet stoves they make. So it's quite possible they do it in the wood world as well?? )

(Edit: Drolet does have a copy of the 3.4? It's the HT-2000. The next size Enerzone down is the 2.9 and the dimensions don't fit the Myriad. Sorry for the rant. ).

I think I saw that the Osburn 2300 was the same firebox as the Myriad and Austral but the Osburn has a really fancied up trim and legs. Its not the same as the enerzone as the enerzone 3.4 has tubes.

Thanks for the input on stoves. I wish our Menards had one to go look at. Looked at the Enerzone 3.4 today but not sure I like the small door opening. Lots of options out there.
    Enjoy the new stove.

Went back and forth and deceided to take your lead Huntindog and go with the same stove. Out of stock so I guess I missed the boat. Thanks for the heads up and let me know how much I blew it by waiting.
Thanks to everyone else for the help, sorry I did not listen to you sooner.
