Did some reading up on that... Quite a bit of usage for denture cleaners, I see, some interesting ones too. Do you have any personal experience with using it?

That's what I was steering away from, didn't want to offset the little organism in the tank. But I see what your talking about scheme of things. Thanks!

I was looking at them at the store when I was getting my pumice stone. But was wondering how they would react with the septic system. But seeing Gary's posting, makes it a little easier to use. So I might just go check that out. Thanks!

I should have mentioned in my suggestion that where I used the cleaners, it is on a municipal system....not my own septic system. I am also careful as to what type of cleaners go into the septic system at the cottage.

Thanks! Much rather use the least amount of chemicals in my septic system... Now, one more quick question... How many at a time and just in bowl correct?

I've got a septic tank as well, I've never heard not to use chemicals. I just use whatever's at the grocery store, I think I've got Lysol cleaner in one bathroom and Clorox brand in the other. We try to keep the toilets pretty clean so they probably both get a squirt of cleaning solution every couple weeks and then a quick brush with the wand and I've never had any issues with the septic system.

I'm not sure how involved the county inspection is when they check my septic system, but they were just here last month and I got a certificate of approval that I passed. They charged me $25 for their time to which makes me livid.

How often do you get inspected ?

Just at home sale here. ( or if you have a failure, which tend to happen at the same time )

They come out every 2 years unannounced and leave an approval ticket on my door. Within a week I get the bill in the mail.

Wow.... that's interesting...at the time of me buying the house. My real estate agent advised me to get a inspection... The son had to find it for use...For the pumper to drain it. My system is home built with concrete walls & red bricks as my baffles.

The rust in my tank was causing the float to stick , rust in the bowl in 3 days , had to use The Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner, strong stuff.
Since I started using the Clorox tablets , no sticking , no brown bowl , 8 months everything is ok .
