Still getting beans, very few tomatoes left. Some pepper left. Summer squash and pumpkins are good. Brussels sprouts are forming up on waist high plants. pole beans climbed up to the second story of my house. Chard is good. Most of it will come to an abrupt end if we get the predicted frost. That's Ok. It was good while it lasted. I have some late greens that might mature. Soon as the frost has a hard freeze, I plan to pull all but the very hardy plants. I'm having some more soil brought in so I can extend the garden area a bit next year. Too tight this year. Pumpkins seem to over power most everything. Even climbing up in the trees. It was exciting to have a garden this year. I had a lot of help. Next year, we will try other things.
I have cherry tomatoes in the greenhouse. They are not very productive. They require an intensive amount of watering. Hope your efforts gave you some reward. I know you have had a lot going on this year. I don't know how you keep up with it all.

For proper steps you do the rise and run; there are actually calculators on the net where you give the rise you need to go and it will calculate everything for you. Be careful using the temp steps because the top step will trip you because you get use to the others and it is short. I replaced the deck at my sister's house and I screwed up the section where the steps came up and attached. The solution was to tear that section out and do it right; I had a friend helping me and he wanted to rigged it to work; I said no, we are going to tear it out and do it right. He got upset and left which was OK with me. The twins, my nephew and sister, and I finished the deck and it was a nice one.

that is just too smart. I like it. You aren't doing anything wrong. One is precut, the other isn't. But the price. what a difference! Which I had thought of that.

That ought to work. Being in a protected area should keep snow from drifting in and rain from freezing. Worse is that snow, melt, then freeze cycle. I have fallen way too many times. My last big fall just ruined my entire life style. It will be three years in Feb. Life changed in a instant. Never thought I would have to live like this. Could be worse, and for that, I am thankful.

A precut stringer is set at a particular rise and run. To build a proper set of steps/stairs, you need to measure the rise and run and calculate tread width and height so that all steps are equal to avoid trip hazard. Just look up on the net to get the info how to do it.

I thought this was a new bin to store firewood. It looks more like a you are putting in a new landing to get in the backdoor.

I think this is an example of project creep; it started out as one thing and grew.

Kimberly hit the nail on the head... It was going to be a bin attached to a covered breezeway and evolved into a full porch. Now I am planning a roof and a firewood holding safety railing after the steps are properly done.

Well I finally found time to make new steps. There isn't anybody around who I can order the length and height from so I ended up making them. Apparently code is 5 step max so thats all anybody carries 3, 4 or 5 step. Online they have the right amount of steps but not the correct rise I needed. Its been a long time since I had to cut stair stringers out.... I nailed it but man thats not something I want to screw up the boards where $$$ at current prices.

The roof and firewood holding railing will hopefully be done by snow fall....

The Rail is going to be similar to this bench rail and the opening under the porch will get a much less fancy box like whats in the picture.

Pallet Pete that is a great job on the stairs; well done. That new porch is going to be so nice over the old one. Yes, the prices of timber these days is unreal. I would hate to see what it would cost to built the shed today.

I wish.. A few years ago I got covered in an ice fall from the metal roof above the mud room I ended up getting totally buried aside from one arm. That can saved my life ( literally) I landed next to it and the ice knocked the lid off and it landed over my head and stopped almost all the ice from crushing my brainy area! I can't get myself to get rid of that can now. Stupid I know but it did save me:rofl:

Nice work on the porch Pete , that's going to be sweet:thumbs:
Just after I walked into my pole barn one time a huge chunk of ice fell off the roof, bent the hell out of the storm door, I was lucky, pretty sure it would have killed me.
I keep a piece of mast pipe out there now, if there's ice by the door on the roof, I knock it off
