Indeed, just one of the more useful things and in the near future we'll see lots more. We just hope and pray that most of the use for these are peaceful. I can see and have thought about the possibility of using one to look over the land. It would be great to have it live stream to the computer so you could operate the drone from your desk and watch the video as it is taking. However, many dollars could be tied up in these so it is one more thing that will have to wait.
They are becoming increasingly popular with ranchers for remotely checking fence lines and cattle, and even to some degree herding the cattle. They are super easy to fly, they basically fly themselves, you just point them in the direction you want them to go, and the 4K video footage that most of them capture is outstanding. I bet you'd have a blast flying it around your property Dennis, just remember, it's only money, the only time money does you any good is when you spend it. Besides with all the money you've saved over the years heating your home with wood you could probably by a hundred drones.
Hey Backwoods Savage, while illegal in my state, wouldnt it be great to use one for scouting out the big boys? I mean not as an unfair advantage just to "keep tabs" on bedding/feeding and cruising areas? The other good thing about drones is the price will be forced down by competition in the near future I hope...
[quotas="J. Dirt, post: 564377, member: 2869"]O K now I really have an excuse for getting one of those drones! Here's my best shot at an aerial stack view from back in the spring 50' up in the big cottonwood by the barn doing some deadwood pruning View attachment 107589
Climbing is way cooler than a silly drone!!
Climbing is way cooler than a silly drone!!
Get to exercise more than just your thumbs. Even can get the flying panoramic view on occasion if you swing from one tree to another
Split horizontal 90% of the time only go vertical for big block busting I like the climbing for the view mainly and the hidden hard to reach cords
We don't own the airspace over property, otherwise, planes could not fly over. I think they are some restrictions on how low one could fly a drone over property. There is an ultra light that flies over at times as lower than most drones; however, they are classified as aircraft. The real question is taking photos. I do think we need laws controlling people taking photos of others without permission and posting to social media. Of course the government takes photos of your property all the time, high resolution detail as well. It is the private part that I think upsets most; people taking photos. I know that phone camera use has gotten out of hand; what is it with people thinking it is OK to take photos of strangers and making fun of them on social media; that riles me to no end and it is time laws are passed against this practice. Sorry, sort of veered off course there. Nice stacks there.
I had one neighbor lady complain at me flying my drone around on my street, saying it's illegal and they have a right to privacy and all that stuff. I guess she is somehow worried I'm going fly over their place and spy on them. I assured her they had nothing to worry about, they just weren't interesting enough for me waste my time. As a side note, a few years ago this same woman's husband sold me an old smoke dragon Lopi woodstove and some insulate chimney pipe that I ended up installing in my shop. She also came over and complained one day about the wood smoke coming from the stove her husband sold me. I thought that it was quite humorous that the only neighbor who has ever complained about wood smoke was the wife of the guy who sold me the stove.
