    Kinda looks like elm. Any other bark pictures? Maybe not covered in dirt? Maybe an end grain picture also.

    Judging by the insect track marks under the bark on picture 3. My guess is still elm.

    The bark, grain(lots of rays) and sap wood on this one make me think white oak but that doesnt match first picture for me. Hmmm

    That end grain is of an Oak.... That stringy stuff above is a subscriber to "String Theory" in the scientific realm of physics.....just realized and manifested in farwood.

    This is white oak.......but the first picture, at first glance, resembles some kind of spruce. After a second look, I'm betting it's tupelo (black gum)

    You guys are right the second set of pics is from a different log. I was in a hurry when I got the pics and should have payed attention to what I was doing. Some of the wood had been thrown around and got mixed up a little, it was not laying in order from being cut.
