This unit had great reviews. After I get it installed, Ill be able to go live on weatherunderground and the acurite app.

Yes I do but the display is not color.. I rarely look at the display as the online is easier to navigate.. Important to get sensor line of sight to get a good signal.. My signal is always poor but it works for the most part..Look forward to your input..

The 5n1 sensor is pretty cool.. I mounted mine about 12' high just above wood shelter roof.. You need to point it north.. I tend to be a weather junkie so I love this stuff!

I think I'll download the manual awhile to see what needs to be done.

That's great! The manual & the NWS suggest a height of 33 ft for the most accurite info, but there's no way I can get that high. I'm thinking we're at least that high above the field below, so I don't think it really matters. It's open enough at the side and front of the house.

 

Those are nice weather stations too.. I believe that is the 3n1 sensor..

 

Actually the 5n1 may be about 15' but that's just a guess.. I have the display mounted to the wall.. Not much to look at..

 

New web interface is improved from what they used to have.. The upgrade to the new web and cell interface was free as well..

Thanks for the pics! I hope the web thing is still free. Good reviews online...... but like some reviews stated...... making use of solar to power the unit would be a nice feature. As cold as it will get here, ill be needimg those expensive lithium batteries during the winter.

 

Pretty sure it will remain free.. I have found the alkalines work fine and it can get pretty cold here.. The sensor batteries last a really long time..

 

That's the AA that are required?

 

Yup I believe the 5n1 takes 6 and the base station takes 3 or 4.. The manual should tell you.. Use quality alkalines and you might be OK..

 

Scheduled delivery is this Saturday. I hope I can catch the mail before they close. If I can, ill get this thing installed this weekend. I wish I had it now........id like to know the wind here on the property. It drives up the mountain with some fury. Was just out on the deck, wind almost knocked me over.........

 

I wonder if I could mount it on top of the flag pole. Thats at least 20 ft up.

Thinking about where to mount, my mind wonders to other ideas. How cool would a fire tower be on the property?
