I have a new aftermarket starter if you want it? Supposed to be good quality. Not hard to ugly it up.

I'll kick in a velocity stack and purchase a unifilter. Much cheaper than maxflo.

I'll also kick in a chain. Let me know the length. Has to be .050

Sounds like you guys are set on the 440/460 but.....

I have an 066 that would be perfect for a project like this. It needs lots of help or it could be a parts donor.

Unless you meant something different by 'platform', it'll be an MS440 case set.

Awesome! I'll PM you my shipping info. Regarding bar/chain length I don't know - is there a preferred length, or a common size cant?

I'm guessing the 440 case set is probably already on it's way to me. However, if an 066 would be preferred we could switch gears. Something we would need to decide soon though!

We will obviously accept any gracious donations for this saw, but if we want to stack the deck in our favor for racing here is what I've been told we would want to focus on from a performance standpoint:
    • Walbro 046 carb preferred over Zama
    • 'Magnum' muffler case (or the baffle removed from a non-Mag case)
    • Dual port front muffler cover
    • Mahle 046 cylinder; three "+" signs or less on the side
    • Matched stamp OEM cylinder and piston stamped either "A" or "B"; was told to stay away from any stamped "AB" if possible

    The numbers used on the 046 were HD8, 9, 14, 16, and 24.

I don't believe so. You get what you get. If we buy a new piston we'll just have to take what shows up.

I have a bunch of nos 460 pistons, so when we get a cylinder, I'll see if I have a piston to match.

Okay, here is our current list of parts if I have everything.

    The definitely list:
    • 440 case set
    • 440 crank
    • 046 tank housing
    • 044 plastics (filter base has been modified to fit the 046 tank housing)
    • Custom spikes
    • Stock style air filter
    • Fuel line
    • Impulse line
    • Fuel filter
    • Clutch cover
    • Velocity stack
    • Unifilter
    • Chain (need to decide on DL count)
    The possibly list:
    • 046 cylinder
    • Muffler
    • Starter recoil assembly
    • 460 piston (although Brad already contributed the case halves & crank, so another source would be great)

Excellent. And yes, if you don't mind go ahead and send the recoil assembly - if for some reason we don't use it I'll ship it back to you. I'm assuming it wouldn't offend you if we "ugly it up" a bit?

Do what you want with it. I can just put a label on it and the shipping company will take care of the unglying up. :)

    Nice!! Good man!

I reset his password a few weeks ago. If need be, I can do it again. If it's personal reasons, then I apologize.

I also have an 066 bottom end. I could throw it up in the classifieds here and see what it brings. This could help with parts or a port job.

I got the 440 cases. I actually have two of them. I can bring them Friday Beau. I probably got other 440 parts I can bring also.
