36 here after 70 yesterday. I love The Berkshires! Saw some snow, which was sticking at the higher elevations. Boiler has a smallish load of pine, poplar, and willow cooking. First 24hr burn so far of the season.
I think that's well south of us. There are times when our weather comes from an airport 37 miles north of our small town and there are times when it comes from the Saranac Lake NY airport which is about an hour southeast of us in the Adirondacks, that's where this weather report is coming from, I hope.
Damp and cool here in upper 30s with 2.5"of snow expected overnight. Woodstove coming soon...... hopefully!
Was 70 and raining here today. No fire needed. Colder weather is on it's way so that will change tomorrow. Some decent winds tonight so might some blow down to cut up tomorrow
It's not overly cold here but it is -2 c with a good frost outside. Had a great day in the bush today with my son dropping a few trees. Very dry and ready to burn. Here's some larch that I put in the stove for an over night burn. First pic was five minutes in and the second is about 1/2 hour or so later with a stove top temp of 560f.
It's in the low 50s right now but the week ahead looks like highs of 40s and lows in the 30s so it's looking like my first fire is coming soon! I'd like to start one tonight but it's not quite cold enough in the house yet. If it hits 62 in the house I will be lighting the fireview. This time last year we were already in full time burn!
Nice day today 63 partly cloudy, not damp. Going to get a little cooler though, low 40 tonight, then the night lows will dip down to 34, 33 Worked on clearing leaves today
That's funny I have windows and doors open right now 66 inside, 60 outside just brought a bag of wood in
Well lows for tonight are 35 (1C) to Wednesday nite about 23 or -5 so IS is lit.. as of yesterday morning did not take pics.. cause I was running to Woodstock to see some hoarders and stoves.. 30 mph winds.. Living room is 80.. rest of house is 72 ish... wife is .. I am burning from now til spring a good mix.. white and yellow birch, red maple, cherry, with 5% pine in there somewhere got a partial cord of sugar maple and iron wood for when it gets winter.. or a bit nippy.. yeah wood is all OK around 20% Mc.. notice this year is all fast drying woods but I am on a three year plan now.. still about 15 cords out back top covered.. so next year will bet better! Wife told me straight.. I will load stove on coals and get it running... I am not doing cold starts!
This afternoon it warmed up some with the sun out. About 50 in the sun I would say. With the wind blowing a little. But the temps look to remain cool at night this week. Soooo, the X27 is out and about! Making some smaller pieces to get the first fire of the season going in the boiler. Time to chase the chill out of the house!
