I hope you have the two different pitch sprockets, and assume you do. But just sayin'. I really like 91vxl Oregon & 30LP Woodland. IME big factor is the filing and frequency thereof. Boring will really be boring w/safety chain.
Yes I converted my 421 to a rim set up today so I can quickly go from .325 to 3/8lp . yes boring probably will be boring but I use that felling method alot and one of the reason I like the 3/8lp the narrow bar is nice for smaller trees. I run alot of the 91vxl and am happy with it. I will be surprised if the 95txl is any better cutting wise but we will see.

I think I've read through everything, but I don't recall seeing any discussion of an important theoretical for many reading these pages: How might these results change for a modded MS261cm? I say this because I am soon to buy the new 261. I intend to run it exclusively with a 16” bar. With a simple muffler mod after breaking it in the stock 4 HP should boost into the 4.8 range (20%), which is on par with the 362 – which runs the standard 3/8 chain even on a 25” bar. So – thus, a modded 261 with a 16” bar would call for standard 3/8 chain, right? My dealer will let me order it with my chain preference. Although the 3/8LP is king in your tests, my assumption is that a standard 3/8 will cut faster than a 3/8LP if they were run at the same RPM - which a modded 261 should be able to do at 16". If you were to hypothesize – how would this experiment have turned out if the 261 had some typical modifications?
Yes results will vary on different saws. with the 261 having 10 cc and 1hp over the 421 I bet it would pull the .325 better then the 421 did. not that it had any trouble it actually pulls .325 just fine. just that ps chain is pretty awesome . It will also depends some on what wood you will be cutting.
Because I cut funky. lol I don't know just how I cut. why would you cut straight down? Honestly I am not sure what you mean. they where cutting straight.
