After a couple of weeks of looking for someone to come out to fire up the boiler (and service it), I called these guys. Of course I'm not in their service area (or anyone else's apparently). Can't get any of the local guys to return my phone calls or emails. WTF? I know they are busy, but a return call would be nice!

Prime G, prime. USPS delivers on Sunday in a lot of areas for Amazon Prime stuff.

Last fall when HART was impacted by ringworm I sent them a pile of people protective gear their address was in a Sunday prime zone. Ordered on a Thursday evening. They had it Sunday.

Decided I needed to take matters into my own hands and read the direction on the 1991 boiler (yes, I know, needs to be replaced real soon!). After going to the transfer station, I stopped at the local hardware store and bought a bottle brush, long matches and a long crevice tool for my shop vac.

Brushed the bottoms of the gas tubes off and vacuumed up underneath. Made sure cat hair and spiderwebs within a 10' area were cleaned up too. I had turned off the gas from the boiler supply line last spring, so I turned it off at the boiler and turned the line gas on. Let it sit for a bit to make sure there were no leaks. With that successfully accomplished, and with no leaks, I turned the boiler to Pilot, held in the red button (per instructions), lit the pilot light while holding in the red button for about a minute. Then turned it to on. Let it sit for a couple of minutes to make sure the pilot light stayed lit, then cranked the thermostat to 75*. AND - we have ignition

Boiler lit after I cleaned it.jpg

Screw them all - cost me less than $10 and I can work on getting the level of the propane in the tank down before it is swapped out for another company just before Thanksgiving. Using propane to heat the upstairs and the P43 can rest for a little (but the P61a will still be going downstairs.)

Wow, I am very impressed! Now that is determination. I always go to YouTube and watch vids before I attempt maintenance. I have saved hundreds and lots of aggravation by fixing things for myself. Gas is simple once you know the ins and outs. But it is also explosive. I don't want any big bangs from NH! Good luck with your maintenance.
One thing I have found that works when you can't get a reply from one of your service people is to show up on their doorstep. Even if you are able to only talk to their SO, you stand a chance of getting a reply.
