Finally got the lift finished in the shop and re-assembled in the basement today. Used old lumber, pulleys, rope, casters (hope they hold up OK) and a 10 year old (new) 2000 lb winch... had to buy a sheet of 3/4" plywood and a small tractor battery. Lifts 100 lbs without any trouble (could probably lift 200, but I'll use 100 lbs as a max). The carrier deck "lands" at about ground level up top. Rigged the 2-1 block and tackle to speed up the travel time... it's about 10 seconds, which is good. The main carrier rail set-up is glued and screwed together. The entire rig is on casters and rolls in on the same "tracks" that I made for my 2 firewood bins. I'll roll it into place when I need the lift but will store it inside. Have 4 players coming on Thursday and it's gonna get used a lot. Looking forward to it. As per the rules here at FHC... the mandatory proof photos... Inspector Giz giving it a once-over before first lift tests... 60 lbs... In position in the Bilco area... the ole Cave Roadie...
Been waitin' for those pics. Awesome! A gooder test would be to put my fat butt on there and see if it breaks........uh, WHEN it breaks.
Ha... lol... I'm pretty sure it would pull you up. I even thought about getting on. 235 lbs might be pushing it, but I think it could do it. Gonna be fun when the crew shows up tomorrow. It'll get a good workout.
Thx. Have been a dedicated gravity fighter for a long time. If the lift holds up over time I'll be good with that. Lots of things I'd do differently next time... that always happens. 100 ways to build just about everything...
Thx guys... gittin perty fired up about these 4 players coming tomorrow. My honey and I swamped out the cave and moved a lot of stuff out. More room and looks better down there. Lots more to do with the room but it's a work in progress. And hey... it's got a woodstove right smack in the middle... Winter jams should be a ball. Really nice to have the lift done so it can be used this time. It was a real pain lifting gear up above our heads on the last load outs.
