This one is easy for me. It likely will always be petroleum and pellets. The only thing that changes is the percentage of one or the other depending on which is cheaper.

Pellets and wood. But the last couple years have gone back to more Pellets than wood. Last year was about 3 + ton of pellets and about a cord of wood.

No LP for me here. Been over 6 or 7 years since we've bought any. If we don't burn Pellets and wood? Then the house doesn't heat up :) Because there is no LP in the tank!

LP is cheap enough to buy now, but I'm afraid a year away would make me lazy. Plus, I would spend about the same anyways. So might as well get a small winter workout!!

Most of our heat will come from pellets. That's only because I have them and like them. The upstairs apt. where my son and his family live will be what heat gets up there and baseboard hot water heated with propane. We used less than $600 bucks of propane last year and that includes hot water for showers, laundry for 6, and one gas stove.

I bought three tons last spring in the $99 a ton Lowe's insanity sale. I wish I had room for more. I have one of those Pellet/Wood/Oil/Natural Gas fuel calculator things that some of the stove dealers give out. I can't remember, but oil has to be really really low to beat $99 a ton for pellets. So I'm all in for pellets. With oil picking up as a secondary.

I was listening to the news while driving home from the Y, Home heating prices are predicted to rise for this winter. All 4 of the really popular ones, oil, electricity, natural gas, and propane. No specific reason given. They don't need one. All they have to do is work together and start charging more. This works until they have one break out, then it all crumbles. But fear not, we are prepared for about anything they throw at us. The one thing that remains a soft spot is legislation that limits the use of wood burning. I don't care for politics, but that is one political fight we need to be involved in or risk a way of life being slowly eroded away and denied to your offspring.

At the gym and watching WMUR while on the treadmill. Their list also included Wood Pellets in that list.

Of course, and don't think for a minute that the utilities aren't lobbying for that.

    I'm probably 48/48/4 % wood/pellet/propane
Not sure what that works out to be on the poll. Basically I split wood and pellet close to evenly, propane as backup though I am thinking about ditching it.

I pay similar pricing. That's why I do pellets as well.

Is equivalent to paying $5.50 a gallon for oil....

The only way to get better pricing for propane is to own your tanks. I tried to buy my tanks, but was not able to find any. I hunted and hunted with no luck. There is another way, that is to be a high volume user. The companies really punish you for low volume.

I'm still paying $1.20/gal more than someone the next town over because they have a different company (he just got 180 gallons for the year and paid $2.49/gal - and he doesn't own his tanks). Even when I bought 300 gal/month, I was paying over $1.00/gal more than people that don't use the company I have. I'm actively seeking to replace them now that my tank is down to about 100 gals in it - just thought that I would check the price for giggles.

    Huh???? Propane?

I just filled with oil at 1.819/gallon (regular Joe Schmo price) as well as locking in propane at work at 1.65/gallon. If you say its where you live, I would advise you to move your azz to somewhere less expensive sister. Your livin with the Rockefellers or something

Edit-nevermind, I just saw your post, seems your getting hosed by someone. People suk.
