I coached my ex's son in baseball and basketball years ago. When he got into soccer I was glad to not be a soccer guy so I couldnt be called on to coach again. It was great to be a spectator for once especially when they got older and the games really were great to watch :)

This works for me because it is understood by all that it's more about getting kids acclimated to being on a team, running around, and having fun. If they pick up some of the basic strategy and lingo then it's a bonus. I don't think I would be able to deal with the parents at the higher levels that all think their kid is the next Rinaldo.

I once heard a mother describe the young kids playing soccer as looking like "a bunch of kittens all chasing a ball all over the field at once". It actually made sense

Today was actually done with a leaf blower. Husky backpack type. I generally use the lawn mower to bag and pick them up but today I was lazy. I just might stay that way as it was way easier.

    Oh yeah, for sure:rofl:

I have seen one kid dive head first into he net to try and stop a goal, another just sit on the ball,a kid kid a front flipper over the ball instead of kicking it, my whole team just stop and stare at "Mr. Moon" that they noticed was still out, a kid jumping off the bench to stop a goal and some other hints I a sure I am forgetting and we are only halfway through the season.

It's a blast!! I am lucky I have very good natured kids.

I have only ever used the lawn mower with the bagger to clean up the leaves. We have a lot of trees here and while not difficult, it's very time consuming and monotonous. The maples drop their leaves first, and those are relatively painless. That's what's going on now. Then the oaks drop their leaves, and it gets to be a real pain. Usually 4 - 6 weekends of picking up the leaves with the bagger at a few hours a pop, and I can't skip even one weekend or they get so deep, the bagger can't deal with them unless I go over them two full times, the first time mulching them up and the second time bagging them. Gotta try a leaf blower one of these days to see if makes the process any better.

Ya yesterday was work and leaves. I have 3 acres of trees. Sugar and silver maples, oaks and ash. Leaves are a major pain in the a$$. I now have a Husqvarna garden tractor and a Cyclone rake leaf bagger. The hardest part for me is getting rid of em. The best and quickest was when I burned them. Two leaf blowers, a four wheeler and a big tarp to move them. Then wife or one of the boys as they got older, to keep feeding the fire. Dry leaves and a Sunday afternoon and we could get rid of a lot of leaves. New York banned that several years ago. Now I am forced to ride around with the vac system for 3 hours a weekend or more and I am running out of places to put the chopped up leaves. Only positive is I don't believe I can be ticketed for drinking and leaf mulching .

Today is going to be scooting and hunting. Oh and a few quick repairs on the leaf machines.

Same pattern as here, If you try a leaf blower dont mess around, get a backpack type like this one. Anything else and you are wasting your time especially with heavy oak leaves-I have tried. As bulky as it looks, its actually pretty comfortable once its adjusted properly and they are so much more powerful than the others.

    Shop Husqvarna 150BT 50.2cc 2-Cycle 251-MPH 710-CFM Professional Gas Backpack Leaf Blower at Lowes.com

I'm of the same mind; I just run the mulching mower over the leaves and call it a day. I don't care for lawns enough to do any fertilization or weed treatment on them - and try to stay away from poisons in general (except for treating poison ivy). Don't want to affect wildlife, domestic animals or my vegetable gardens.

    Have any gardens?
We used to grind the leaves directly into the veggie garden. Till it over in the spring.
Did that for the first time at a friends parents 30 yrs ago. Their garden started doing much better that year.

Gardens and the flower beds get our mulched leaves. Spread some lime or pellet ash on them before tilling them in. We also pile some leaves up on the perennial bushes to keep them warm over the winter.

figure i gotta put the bagger unit on the zero turn tomorrow and bring it home. it generally takes 3 cleanups of about 2 hours each to handle the 1 acre of lawn (if you can call it that - whatever grew, grew) since i'm at 500 feet elevation, i'm done by the time the shop in rocky hill needs its first cleaning. but that takes longer... but i like leaf season!

finished the doors on the building today.. barn red staining next week 15 gallons applied with a electric power sprayer. whatever clothes you wear are trashed. need respirator and goggles as well. and about 3 guys to mask off the concrete and hinges ahead of you. pictures to come!

I asked a former neighbor once what fertilizer he used because his grass looked so good. He said are you nuts, that stuff only makes the grass grow faster.
