    I bought all these tools for a buck a piece...... The double bit on the right side is a Gransfor Bruks, the middle is a Collins, no marks on the one on the left. :dancer:

    I really enjoy getting old iron tools home and finding out the makers name. I bought this Hults-Burk double bit this summer for $3.00.

    We can do a barter like some maple syrup or something down the road for that one if you want. That was my first one inspired by our hikes last summer.

    This thread is giving me the idea to get to the antique market this weekend. I like the less pointy tools though. I can't leave ball peen hammers behind...

    Went and cut some boards this morning to mount the double bit axes on, stopped at a yard sale on the way home and picked up another Gransfors Bruk axe.:thumbs:

    I gotta find me some yard sales like the one's you're hitting! I never find any cool stuff - seems like it's always all baby clothes or other stuff I don't want/need.

    What did you pay for the minty 660 + mill? Probably $10 or something??? :picard: ;) Cool finds! :)

    If you ever wanna sell a double bit, let me know. I'd like to get one with an original haft....but I can always make my own out of hickory or ash. .....

    The 660 I bought new about a year ago. The mill was a loan:rofl: :lol:.....I have a brand new 660 I bought from a FHC member a couple weeks ago...I always ask the folks at yard sales if they have any axes for sale....... I can't believe that I got that second GB axe within a week.:jaw:

    Hey Scotty Overkill, I'll sure keep my eyes open for a nice one.......Most of what I find need handles and some restoration, I soak them overnight in white vinegar wire wheel them and then apply gun bluing . Some I leave alone if they don't have too much rust, I like the patina.... It's difficult to find nice handles! here's what I'm talking about...... I'm going to order handles for the GB from their suppliers or make them.......... I'll be hitting yard sales again this weekend for sure, I hope my luck holds out!

    I don't mind if the handle is rough looking, I'm going to make a wall hanger out of it for our fireplace room.....

    Even just an axe head would suffice for me...lol. I can make my own haft.
