My cousin who owns the farm adjoining mine has re-committed to more pasture and has gone bat-crap crazy dropping trees-lots of them and I went over to help today-My guess is 40 or more, mostly hickory, small to large-it was previously cleared but he left a lot of trees and now is ballzout...I cut up 3 and helped him fell a bunch---was a beautiful day, down to 40 tonight and pics to follow

The total pasture acreage will be @ 30 acres, pics dont really show vastness of size but I took some from most angles-I cut up 1 red oak, 1 pig-nut and 1 white oak-more wood than I can handle but I will be helping him throughout the fall and winter with a little hunting in between IMG_4463.JPG IMG_4468.JPG IMG_4473.JPG Pulled up the pig-nut hickory and couldnt get it limbed for the cattle eating the leaves...they were good company...I have my own wood down but this was pretty easy picking in that I could get the truck to it-no hauling of ATV, tandem axle wood hauler and pulling a 12' trailer...

Look at the moisture in that hickory IMG_4484.JPG And the final product, for today minus a lot of felling and brush pile stacking IMG_4486.JPG

The clearing of Hurricane Matthew has brought us temp to 40 tonight, 39 for tomorrow night then warm back up-running a lil test firing of the Woodstock later...It was such a beautiful day after raining all day yesterday...Man I love this place here with all you like minded understanding folks-we have a great community here!

I agree scopes and if I could wish for a top shelf photographer, one who is uncanny in their inherent ability to get everyone else to do everything else...well...well...I'd look just a tad south...get better soon my friend...I got a nice cherry glow from the Woodstock going...it's why we do what we do...smell nice, eating up the humidity and feels good on my bones...dogs love it too...

Twain said golf was a good walk spoiled...to me its my second therapy...issues you know...I made fun of it too, once upon a time-now its central to my life...baseball was my life, it doesnt last forever-you can play golf til you can't walk..there is a symbolic relationship, trees are critical to both-Thank God I'm able to enjoy both-Life gives us one round...

Sounds like a lot of good wood coming your way. You should be set for quite a while, no?
Until you tried it and got hooked. ;)
Elsewhere, I like being in the woods. On the course, a walk in the woods is often accompanied by a bit of swearing.
Looks like you're getting several rounds lately. ;)
I haven't played much golf in the last several years. I should get out there this fall. It's been a while, and maybe I've forgotten all my bad habits.

Always playing the trump card ey yooperdave?? Hope you are well my friend. And Woody Stover I am at the 3 yr benchmark currently, hoping to put away maybe 4&5 this fall/winter and believe me, the bad habits always return...but fall is a great time to play-"The worst day of golf is always better than the best day of work"

IMG_4500.JPG IMG_4511.JPG IMG_4510.JPG The results of 8 hrs work, not the finished product yet-I've grown to wish I split out of the truck, but old girl has to go back to the shop-tail/turn light issue and a lil leak from the radiator section...I'm just trying to get one more year-may look for a creme-de-menth Andes type deal:whistle: IMG_4511.JPG IMG_4510.JPG View attachment 106118 She doesn't care if its a mile or a 60 yd ride--I love her, she's lived and loved longer than any Boxer I've ever had-Got her to keep my late mom company and keep her mind off her illlnes...it and she worked quite well...
