I have been running P tires on my Ford F150 and LT's on my Dodge 2500 work truck. I have been impressed with the wear and longevity of the LT's on the 3/4 Ton compared to the Passenger tires on the 1/2 Ton. I am thinking of putting LT's on my 1/2 Ton but have been told that it will make the ride very rough and I will hate it.

Just wondering who runs LT tires on their 1/2 Ton and do you find it rides rough?

Me. 265 70 16 on a Chevy plow truck. First I had bfg at's that were 65lb. Next was Michelin ms2 80lb. Now it's cooper ms 80lb. The ride blows goats. I've got the same truck with 35lb to compare it to so I say that with authority.

The only time you will like the ride is with a plow on the front and 1000lb of ballast in the bed.

Summary: Unless you plan on really overloading it, stick with 35lb shoes.

There is nothing wrong with airing a tire down to get a better ride when just driving the truck empty. I have a 2500 Cummins. Fronts need normal psi, backs get adjusted often. Wear has never been an issue.

I wouldn't be afraid to run the E range tires on your half ton for times when plowing or hauling heavy, but the D range tires will save you a good bit of money

I run 35 psi in my BFG All terrain TA's and the same in the summer BFG Long Trail touring tires and don't find much of a difference. I used to have Uniroyal laredo's on in the summer and they were about the same as the long trail's.
I'd say high pressure is your problem. As TD said, running a lower pressure when you're not loaded is a good thing.

You can get "C" rated LT tires in many brands..................you can air them up to 50psi.

I put 10 plys on my GFs Explorer 2 years ago and will never run P rated tires again.
45 -50 lbs in the 10 plys and that thing no longer wanders all over the road!

I've had LT for tires vs p tires on half tons, or compacts, and both broncoII's and full size broncos. If you are hauling heavy loads, that's the only reason to get LT tires.

    They certainly weight ride better.

Solid front and rear axles on a short wheelbase, and light truck tires?

I can pretty much guarantee that it will ride better with P tires.

Does the old blazer have original springs?

I would guess they are orig unless they were replaced before 1993, not likely. Though I really miss driving it 150 miles per day. I don't remember the numbers exactly but WWW always set my tires like 10 psi or more lower, or something similar, and I was most comfortable when the shocks were 1/2 worn out:salute:

Yes, worn shocks and springs will ride well, until you find that pothole.

I KNOW I overloaded it for too many years but I would carry 2000 lbs of copy paper in it twice a week for many years, no doubt the springs were worn! And yes, rarely I would hit a pothole and it rattled the poor truck and my bones, but driving the same route every day for years I was usually able to avoid the persistent potholes. I had a helper once and he was dismayed I was driving on the right white line of the road, there was a very good reason for that........
