First fire of the season here in NW Pa. Only supposed to get down to 32 but wife and daughter were going for a run and wanted a fire when they got back.

Nice fire! Had our first fire this morning since the wife was chilly. A little warm in here for me, but I love the fire from the dry hickory:dex:

Any idea if I can do that with rain/snow damaged pellet bags? Where the pellets blow up and crumble....

Hmm no idea I haven't tried that before. If they are dry I don't see why not. Might have to make them into a big pile but it's worth a shot!

I lit off fire #2 in the new (to us) Drolet 1400i tonight using your pellet Pallet Pete trick along with savemoney hand sanitizer to light 'em up...worked pretty well I gotta say.

High of 60 today here and forecast low of 39. Got home from the weekend getaway and the house was 60...
Time for some fire. Not the first, but pleasing nonetheless :dex:

Nice!!! I was hoping to light the fireview for the first time this year but it just wasn't cold enough today! It's been very rainy and cool but didn't quite drop low enough. Hoping to light it off soon though, everything is cleaned and ready to go!

Cool! Try different methods and amounts... With mine I use 2 cups on a cold start and wishing a few minutes I've got a coal bed with the door shut. It makes the stove burn hotter faster. My buddy has a Drolet and dumps them on top on a piece of bark for top down lighting and that works really good in his stove. Your may be different too.

It was cooler down south here in Michigan this past couple of mornings than up at the hunting cottage in the U.P. We have had fires at night. Tomorrow the sweep is coming so I will let it go out. It has been warm enough during the day.

The T5 Alderlea is cruising on a small load of fast burning wood. Current OAT is 46F, forecast low of 37F tonight. Should be cold as b@lls in the tree stand in the morning. Thank goodness for hand warmer packs and fleece clothing. Last night, we were both too tired to start a fire before bedtime, so we did our annual check of the oil/forced air system. It worked fine. No need to run it again until next fall.:smoke:

Be firing up the stove shortly. Wife has been complaining about the temperature in the house. Its 70'F in here. Electric furnace kicked on couple times a day but she hates it. Fake heat she calls it. lol

36 here now, no fire yet, yesterday was 31 and the wife burned oil for 15 minutes and that was enough, first time using the oil. Probably a couple more weeks before the first fire, I still have to pull the AC's out of 3 windows and clean the chimney.
