With inspection being in April, its tempting to save the cash right now, In all reality the treads are still just above the wear indicators and fine for now but better safer than :pain:

I have had to pull out of work and onto a main road that has a normal speed limit of 50. With 4-6 inches of uncleared slippery chit during a storm, that gets hairy if your wheels are spinning and a tractor trailer bearing down.

Its that spot where I pull out of work and onto a major road that I learned to turn off the VSA (Vehicle Stability function) when it is snowing . That thing will get you killed by applying the braking system because a wheel is spinning. When it applies the braking it stops your forward momentum at a time that you dont expect it to. :hair: Any sort of experienced winter driver will do a far better job by using the accelerator properly and NOT applying any braking.

During snow storms is one time I really miss a manual transmission that I drove for so many years. A quick push on the clutch and all drive is off the wheels to stop spinning but not hindering forward momentum. Driving a manual for at least 25 years in a row and all of this would happen without even thinking first-just reflex reaction.

The Ridgline came with Michelin LTX M/S and that was what I replace them with when they were needed. Now I am at the 3rd set of skins and going with the same again.

Pricey at about 200 each :makeitrain":makeitrain" but each set has given me at least 75K miles of smooth riding and never once stranded me in the snow. Back when I replaced the first set, each and every tire shop I called for pricing said the same thing-cant get a better all around tire for an suv/pickup.

I have 74K on the current Michelins and they likely will go on the Used Tire rack to be resold.

Very similar to the LTX M/S about $50 less / tire

Raining pretty good here. Supposed to work on the kids car(change TB). Might be an excuse to take tomorrow off.............

    :D

New buggy has Michelin Latitudes. Decent all season. Good ride ect. But I don't think they will be worth a darn in the icey chit. I looked at the Michelin X-Ice, But "wow" price is nuts in the size the buggy needs.

Due to it being an SUV(tired sized like a car), There isn't many M&S rated tires that look to have a good grippy tread. Still looking, But likely go with a blizzac or General.

I too will go check out the Laredo's, JIC.

I went on Uniroyal website and saw that they look similar. Difference is the wear rating off 55K vs 70K but that is likely a marketing thing.

How did they do in the deep snow/slick roads etc ? Also, Uniroyal doesnt have the 245 width that I have used ans is stock for the Ridgeline. They have a 235.....

I used Blizzak when I had 2WD-Great winter tire but they dont last long due to the softer/spongy rubber which is what makes it a good ice tire
