Yes, and I smacked my forehead; what was I thinking. and thanked PapaDave for reminding me. I was trying to get the homeowner to rethink tearing into walls and such and to consider other options and I wasn't thinking clearly.
wittyphrase one thing you will quickly learn is that threads can be hijacked; all in good fun though even if at times I get a bit miffed.
Yea I think the nc30 is my shortlist I downloaded the manual onto my phone...I just wish I could find a floor model locally so I could touch it and see how well it's welded etc.etc. I am a welder fabricator and it drives me nuts to see some of the stuff sold and how it's welded. A friend bought a county line box grader from TSC and the welds look like bird s@#$ and they didn't clean any spatter off before painting. So only a couple years old now and the spatter started popping off and its covered in surface rust. I got implements that are at least 60 years old that still have nice paint. They just don't make nothing like they used to. I already have all the rock out of the living room and that wall is 2x3. And I guess they were going for 2ft centers? They missed their mark I got 3ft in between a couple of the studs...I'm adding more framing into that wall. So I'm starting from scratch anyways.
Thanks for the chuckle. I was at a Farm & Home store yesterday, and they had a real nice Drolet just about the same size as the 30. I really like the door latch on that stove. The one on the 30 is loose fit. Other than that, it's a great stove.
Welding - blame mostly on automated systems- then qc- What ever is going on at Western/Fischer/Blizzard snowplows in the welding department wouldn't pass the test I went through in High school. No company is immune- these kind of things can be corrected with a bit of attention course that might cost a dime or so- Frankly I think the bean counters should be made accountable for most of this kind of poor mfg practices-as that is where the problem mostly originates. ( not counting chi-com stuff - as thats all you will ever get from that area at least for the foreseeable future).
Happy with the Drolet here, PE did not work for me but the Drolet is working out, I still prefer my old stove but that is another story.
It's everywhere Chris. I've crawled under brand new trucks trailers cars and seen shock brackets that weren't welded on and curbside welds looking perfect while roadside welds all cracked. Mostly on Mexican built vehicles to. I'm a die hard Ford guy but I won't be buying a Ford after they move to Mexico.
On the other forum you get kicked off for hijacking a thread (with no warning) unless of course you are a moderator and then you can do what you want, yep still pizzed about it.
And I drive a Buick; and if I had the money to buy a new Buick, I would not buy one made in China. Yes, GM is going to be building Buicks in China and selling them in the USA. Not to me they won't.
