Looks to be pretty good & dry wood.

Not sure woodlands? will take a close up pic of it tomorrow as i was just cutting into a small limb and maybe somebody has an idea why?

    Thanks Sav,and its a 170.

Will be using the splitter Gas.

Was a good day cert but got a little po'd near the end so called it a day.

All the stuff that doesnt need splitting dave will be burnt asap. The old man wants me to cut up all the little stuff for kindling but that aint gonna happen as i brought up a ton of cedar rails for him along time ago and i am getting back into just cutting good dead 3inch and bigger firewood.

The splitter is the way to go Loon. But you have to try splitting a few pieces by hand. If it is anything like the last Elm I tried to split by hand, talk about getting a little po'd and calling it a day! :D

Yes it is Pyro and i've been 13 years dealing with all the dead Elm around here Gas and i sure do know how fun it is to split  ;) I dont fight with it anymore i just calmly turn the block around on the splitter and calmly split the stringy CRAP the other FRIGGEN way!!!! :D Worst wood in the world to split but i sure do like the way it burns :)

Went for a drive on the farm late yesterday and found some more smallish dead ones so i am thinking of leaving the larger blocks that need splitting for a week or 2 and go and fetch the other trees today as i want to top up my carport and add to my buddy's stash in his garage ;)

Change of plans again.. Went over and cut most of it up today but my 2 helpers figured it would be more fun playing snowball catch and then Emma got to eating all the kindlin

Looking at the chain, it looks like the link might have been filed or ground into making it thin/weak. It is an easy thing to do, especially when one is tired.
