I looked this morning and Ironwood, MI had 43 degrees while the rest of Michigan's UP was around 60 and we were 65 here. At present, we are at 77 degrees but looking at Ironwood, they have actually dropped to 41 degrees. It is funny looking at the UP because at the far west end it is 41 and at the far east end it is 71. That's a big 30 degree difference in the same state at the same level NS. I know we are expected to be around 20 degrees cooler tomorrow and it will be welcome. So get that wood ready and the stoves too as most of us will be burning again soon. :stacke:
I've been a good girl and brought in cherry uglies to fill the corner of my living room--it's a game I play--see how long I can wait (that goes for several topics) till I light that 1st fire--but the cherry has a great aroma that fills the whole house--I'd like to try generating heat another way not requiring a match...
I hate to admit it but I have had several fars in old black sabbath already this fall. Not for the heat mind you. More for my own personal enjoyment.
It was 67 when I left for work this morning, and a low of 42 tonight. We will have a fire for sure. I'm already looking forward to it!!
It is 80F here right now, but the nights drop down in the 30's and 40's. We run the stove during the night, off during the day. Our stove heats so well, I am in the process of rebuilding our porch. It is going to be a third larger and this time, winterized. All insulated windows and doors, plus the ceiling and walls. I plan to open the window and door from the living room and let the heat get into the porch. Always too hot in here anyway. That will allow me to have a heated sun porch! Nice place to sit and read or work on some projects. Will be good to have a spot with no TV in it.
I still do not see any fires here except outside for awhile yet. It is to dip into the 40's Sunday night. It will be more comfortable working on firewood though.
I haven't smelled any burning wood in the wind either. By now there normally would be a few burners lighting up.
29 this a.m. Got the Baker's choice fired up,burned good and clean. Plenty wood for the winter, not looking forward to it thou. Snowed about 2 inches last nite. Spose to be mid 50s by early next week. Typical northern North Dakota weather. Finished putting together my logosol mill Anxious to do some milling. Gotta put a few more hrs on the new 390xp before I run it hard on the mill.
