In spite of the dire prognostications of TV talking heads, it looks like we actually survived another President! We still even have our guns and no martial law! :deadhorse: Sure, we might have a few cr@ppy new laws, but what else is new.

I personally don't care which TV celebrity emerges victoriously from the clown car next month. We'll survive them too, no matter what the TV talking heads might try to tell you. You might consider unplugging from that garbage. Get a glass front stove and watch that instead. Just a suggestion.

Problem with crappy laws is they are never repealed no mater how ineffective/senseless they are. No sense making dumb laws just to milk off society's teet.

Crappiness is in the eye of the special interest beholder. Silly citizen, politicians don't write our laws! They're way too busy between building their brands via TV appearances, and raising money for their friends' and their own political campaigns.

Amazing isn't it?? I wasn't for him and still I'm not.
Me and the girlfriend "unplugged" from the morning news in the spring sometime. Can't say I'm missing much except anger and frustration.
I'm ready to go back to the 1800s lol

I quit watching the "stupid tube" quite a few years back. The morning/noon/evening news was the catalyst. I got tired of seeing news skewed to one side and other news that amounted to nothing more than a pile of bull poop.

During the heating season, I do watch my stoves fire (glass front) and enjoy it immensely.

I think we should all get together and write in "Kimberly" for president. Think about it! If she can live on $130 a month, pay her real estate tax, personal property tax, vehicle insurance, telephone, and internet yet purchase a new stove at the beginning of the year along with all the pipe and fittings to take her above the roof line. Then parts and fuel for her tractor, car, and chainsaws, and much more including food! I believe she would be the ideal candidate. We're talking a balanced budget within a year just for starters. Taxes would fall back to where they were in the early 70's! Heck, the economy would do a total about face!

Think about it! Write in Kimberly for president!

I see your main point and you are correct people are easily riled up.
I think emotions stick with people throughout their day and the next and the next.
Its good to be informed but letting it consume you is icky.

I don't even need to watch any news on TV to know what's really going on.

Talking about gun rights in NY is silly as well. The state has a whole list of what you can't buy anymore.
Martial law...I never thought I'd see troops and armor on our burning city streets.

I also used to know people who didn't make it back after failed promises of an ended war.
I know people who lost their jobs due to new regs.

My Avatar says it all. Live in freedom, ignore the jerks.

I don't think I have seen a TV newscast in 5 years or more. I don't miss it in the least.

Some years ago my doctor told me to stop watching the news. I did that once for four years. I was much happier then. You can't UN-invent TV, and that's half the problem. A good book and a fire in the stove does make for a relaxing evening.

I remember many moons ago when we actually sold our tv and was never sorry for it. We had 2 sons; one in 7th and one in 8th grade. It bothered them for the first 2 days and after that, they also enjoyed it and we did more together as a family. I know for certain that one of my sons, although he has a tv, watches it very little and he foldly recalls those days when we dumped the tv.

We do have a tv now. Typically we watch the nfl playoffs and the super bow. Once in while my wife will watch part of the olympics but did not this summer. Needless to say, our tv doesn't run up our electric bill very much.

As for the politicians, I hardly ever even read about them and certainly have no desire to watch them on tv.

I only watch the news for the weather, and they are usually wrong about that!

I use one of my TV's as a monitor for my security cameras. It's not all that big, the screen measures 16" by 9". One is collecting dust, and the third is on 24/7 but on a channel that doesn't have any news or sports. It's background noise (I live alone) and it makes it look like someone is home or at least awake. A fire in the stove kind of does the same thing. Actually sitting down to watch the television really isn't something I do. I can't stand it even for a minute.

With everything I run, y'all would think my electric bill is in the hundreds per month, but, I just received last months bill for 267 KWH. :D

I get all of my weather from the internet weather guessers. If something serious might be coming (my bones aching) I'll check the weather maps. And you know, I have a 50/50 chance of being correct! :hair:

The weather guessers generally can't predict anything more than a couple of hours out, and are wrong most of the time. Perhaps if they actually looked out the window! :headbang:

Haha! I remember the weather forecaster said we could get 12-16" if snow by the end of the storm. At the time there was 22" on the ground. I said to myself, "don't they give these guys a window or a ruler." The next day they took him off the nightly news and put him on afternoons.
