As long as you didn't spoil it with sugars, it is very healthy for you. Good for a low carb diet.

Well, my beloved 1997 suzuki tl1000s I've had for 15 years lunched something and there is a hole in the upper crank case. It sprayed oil all over the rear wheel, so I'm lucky I kept it upright while riding home from work today. What happened exactly? I dunno. Got nearly home after work. Trailered it home after I called the wife for a pick up while I left the bike at an old abandoned farm home. IMG_20161005_193025027.jpg

That's a lot of oil. I shut it off, but out appears to be where the case halves meet.

There's about a quarter sized hole in the case. Maybe a tranny piece let go? Here a bad pic, but it's not good. IMG_20161005_173957112.jpg

I can either part it, or I'd rather swap a different motor into it. Then sell it, probably next summer. I could do the tlr motor conversion to make it a TLS/R.

I was going to buy a new bike anyway, but this forces my hand, and causes me to miss some riding time.

There a lot of completely new or revamped 2017 bikes being released, just in the past few days. Most don't get delivered until spring. So there's that.

Things could've been a lot worse for me today. A couple of quarts of oil on the rear tire at speed , 50-60 mph could've been really bad.

There brown sugar, molasses, soy, sriracha, and a while lot of other things. It's less healthy than it could be, but it's really good, and great protein while you are or working outside.

I've got a pre deer hunting weekend up north coming up in a couple weeks. It will come in handy then.

That's for sure! Hitting the pavement would have at the least been a bit of rash.

Did you put your feet low just in case?

Yes, but to be honest it was pretty planted for what was going on. Those new metzeler tires sure earned their keep today. IMG_20161005_193013396.jpg
These pics really don't do it justice. There's a slick of oil all over the rear wheel swingarm etc.

SUCKAGE! You can really see the oil on the tire in your first pic.
Back when I was still wrenching at the dealership I had a good customer with similar results on a TL, he started it one morning to warm up for his ride into work, backed it out of the garage, blipped the throttle and CRUNCH! It just locked up. I tore the engine down...but for the life of me I can't remember anymore what let loose...seems to me a piston broke, anyways, he brought us a used engine to install...last I heard he still has it.

It was not locked up. I don't get it. It would make more sense if it was locked up.

Hmm, yeah, odd. From what I can see in the pic about the only thing that could blow a hole in the case in that area is tranny parts. So it was still running and driving? Were you able to pull in the clutch and roll to a stop? Tranny still shift?

Yep, all that. Clicks though 1st, neutral, and 2nd I can say. It was running when I turned it off. I'm thinking a tranny part wanted out of the case bad enough.

I'll get a pic of the evacuation route. One that's lit up a little

Horkn .... :jaw:.... Yeah, that could have been bad... Glad it all worked out. Parts can be replaced, the O'l body doesn't quite work that way...

Great job keepin' it upright Horkn. Sad to see it go that way, I guess it didn't like the electrical mods........Morning ritual underway here, then out to get the tractor set up for leaf season. With 26 mature White Pines on 1 acre, the season of ankle deep pine needles is about to start. We don't rake here. The vac system on the 60" deck takes care of the mess nicely. By the time it is over we generally have a dump truck load of "debris".

Everyone have a great and safe day and pray for the folks down south about to get "rocked" by the storm...........
