We haggled a deal out for just the complete saw, talked to him on the phone a bit, told him I knew ya. He spoke highly of you.

Not yet, I think it will be soon though.

Found it out in California on ebay thanks to thistle, he has another one for sale now too. It's not complete, though.

I've been watching for one for almost a decade, I see them really beat up from time to time but never complete, this one is almost all there. Needs the pull handle and some other odds and ends.

Of course, it will be getting some custom spikes, and I already have a McCullough embossed beavertail bar that'll look pretty good on her......

It's weird.....I've looked for both a Contra and a BP-1 for many years, found them both in less than a year......

That's why I had to buy it.

The guy I work with now found a BP-1 not too long ago locally, he says it's close to complete, he keeps telling me he's going to bring it to the shop some day but he keeps forgetting....

I got to run one at a GTG/Pioneer Harvest in Ft. Scott KS; very smooth, good power, and rocks left to right when you rev it from the torque.

An elderly gentleman walked up to me at the Pioneer Harvest and started talking. He saw some old Macs and told me he worked for McCulloch back in the day. He said he did R&D and worked on the BP-1. My eyes lit up and I said, "You are kidding me. You are going to like this then" and I took him over to the BP-1 and showed it to him. His eyes lit up in astonishment. He made a few cuts and he couldn't have been happier, brought back a lot of memories. I introduced him to the owner and they talked McCulloch for awhile.

    Anyhow, congratulations on the find.

Know what you mean,I've found 10 saws that I really wanted in the past 12-14 months. At least 4 of them I thought it'd be many more years before finding ones that were decent/fair priced & not outrageously priced or a basketcase/pile of junk that was priced at scrap metal rates.

Persistance sure pays off, plus getting the word out that you're looking for certain items. They eventually find YOU.

That, my friend, is priceless! Thanks for sharing! I've got my fingers crossed that this old girl will come to life without too much work. If it goes right, she'll be getting powder coated to like-new condition this winter. All new seals, bearings, rings, etc.......

Don't worry, I'll do a post on it for sure...

I just seen another one just like it in rougher looking condition for $850! Apparently someone is selling off an old saw collection here locally...there is a butt load of crazy looking old saws right now.

I can PM you the info on that Stihl if you want...
