got a load in of EasyBlaze SYP today. i was down to 2 skids, and they were buried behind...well they were deep. picking up my new Air Tow trailer next week. It will carry 3 skids and the electric pallet jack. They are very quick to load and unload and I can place the skids in the garage right where the customer wants them.

So I give a 19-20 year old a chance on a job with the company. Rookie kid for a copier/mfp technician position with a decent starting pay.

Kid shows up, service manager works with him and takes him on a few service calls. We have a training agenda set up for him.

Kid goes to lunch at noon and never comes back. I wasnt calling his sorry azz but another admin does around 2:15. Doesnt answer his phone and eventually sends an email saying he thought about it and its not for him.

No issues with that but man up next time and do this face to face or at least call. Dont disappear and hide behind an email 4 hours later.

Hospitals do that, seems to be part of their disorganization. We have received about 6 bills from Maine General Medical, all inappropriate, all ending up being retracted.
We received one bill for my Dad form a hospital in Florida. It was a few years after his death. The bill was for a procedure done several months after his passing. He had never been to that hospital. Actually, the bill was a copy of the bill that Medicare had sent following paying for the procedure. I called the Fraud line and let them take it from there.

That is very common these days. They quit by being a no show. Sorry situation.

That service is most appreciated. When that happens, I always give a good tip. What I don't like is when they are complaining about their job the whole time they are here.

Heck, that is my running joke when ever they hire someone new at anyplace I've worked at since 2006 (and yes, I'm including middle-aged people). If they came back after lunch, we're probably good. Even better if they show up the next day. I don't care if it is on the manufacturing floor, assembly, or a QE - I've seen a lot of people take a lunch that literally lasts forever (and not call, email or anything).

Dave Dionne brings a pallet jack along with his Moffet fork lift so that the pellets can be put anywhere in the garage. Its a huge help and artc that goes a long way for customers.

Regarding tipping, I often tip for good delivery service but if the delivery person is the owner of the company they generally wont take it so I dont offer any more if nthat is the case.

Complaining to a customer....that doesn't fly with me. Almost everyone complains about their job but doing it with a customer is off limits. Now if they are just saying that it is a back breaking job and physically demanding on a hot/cold day then that is a different situation.

I guess the times are changing, and not for the better. I wouldnt even think about doing this, but then again I have been working since my early teens with a good work ethic.

Funny thing is that this kid is trying a side business doing computer stuff. I wouldnt want to be one of his customers. My guess is that he saw that this was going to get his hands dirty, involve learning new things as well as being actual work. All negative stuff to many these days.

Many people these days seem to be pretty mercenarial. Cant blame them in some cases, maybe the new job pays better, better perks, easier, etc.

We had one guy who decided it was OK to not show up....no call, no nothing....a busy weekend, he just doesn't show. Did this 3 times within 3 weeks. I fired him, basically explaining that when he doesnt show, someone else has to do his job, and its usually me...which means I cant do my job.....you'd think I slapped him in the face. THEN he eventually comes back on bent knee, begging for the job back. Know what? We gave it to him, with the caveat that if this happens even one more time, there wont be any leniency. That was a month ago, he's been good since.....so, sometimes it does seem to work (giving a guy a second chance)....

The boss has a folding canvas cart she drags to the beach, this morning we did a decent job of filling it with pears for drying. Our three pear trees are bare now. One apple tree to pick. Hey Larry, we have a few squash this year.

Lugging a useless cane around. Getting there.

Good, they will taste so good baked.
I have been using my for 2 and a half years. Funny, I have found a number of things to use it for. I turn my can around and use the curved end to grab things with. I pull my shoes to my feet. Good for dressing and undressing the lower half. Grate for grabbing doors to pull closed. Best of all, it keeps me from tipping over! I now have 4 canes placed about so I'll have one should I wonder off without one. I really resented being dependent on a cane, but now I have come to be resigned to it and have come to look at the positive part of it.
