It looks like it's getting stronger and it's tracking further west, stay safe.

I am hoping the water is too cool now for the hurricane to stay formed up, but it has happened. Several times, we have lost trees, power lines etc. Lots of low land flooding. There will be a lot of free firewood if that hits here. The ground gets saturated, wind blows and over goes the trees. I have had the wind so bad I thought the roof would lift off! One of the reasons I had trees removed that looked like they had the potential to fall on the house. Those trees can split a house in half. Just have to keep track of the storm.

I think that is some areas they are evacuating 100 miles inland. Around here, they only evacuate the homes that are right on the ocean front. A few hundred feet in, they don't. We are at least 20min. to salt water (less than a half mile to tidal water) and then there are the huge numbers of peninsulas that go several miles out. I've had huge trees come down, and severe wash outs, but never any water in the house. We usually get limbs on the road and power outages.

Isn't she the nurse? Does she work for an inpatient facility? Hard to get away if you work in a hospital or nursing home.

Yes she's an LPN , but not working now , back in school in a very intense LPN to RN program , where the school says you shouldn't work if you want to graduate .

I would agree on that, I was an LPN at the time I went for my Rn at the University of Maine. That was not an LPN to RN program. In fact, some of the instructors were very mush oppose to LPNs. A couple of them were not happy with male students. There were 7 of us that just didn't let them under our skin.
Your daughter's school won't let her get in harm's way if they can prevent it.

It's a Community College about 10 mins from where she lives , same place she got her LPN , no way they would put students in harm's way , won't hit them till some time Sat. latest models show it pushing out to sea before the NC coast , that would be nice .

Looks like Hurricane Matthew won't be up this way after all. I was hoping for some rain, but even that is gone now. However, the folks in Florida and up the coast a bit need our prayers for their safety.

Not good at all. Lunch time Friday the eye will be over 2 of my kids heads as a category 4. From 1500 miles away I can't do anything to protect them. Definitely not gonna sleep for the next few nights.

Just saw the map a little while ago. The kids live about 20 miles west of coco baech and a little north in Geneva. The ex just told me they stocked up on everything. Hope she's made some good choices.
