Lol guys! I've questioned thewoodlands enough about the use of t- posts, that's why I'm doing it! Unless of course his stacks fall over and he didn't tell me! I couldn't just let the pile sit there, so I went and got some, and got the stuff stacked.
Got more color at my house....unbelievable since I am way southeast of you...Sorry no pics it is dark....
Yes, raspberries in July when we first came up, then again early August. About when they were done, the blackberries were starting to ripen. Made plenty of jams!
Thanks, and yes we are. A little stressful at first, but we're adjusting well. Main thing is getting at least 8 stacks done so we're good for next year!
, Making jam, cutting wood, taking a hike in the woods. Good living, you have found it. Next we have to get WeldrDave moved up here. He is going to fit right in.
Good luck with the new job, sounds pretty interesting. You'll get there on your stacks in time. I'll keep an eye out for stoves down this way. Any tri-axle loads for sale up there?
Thanks Jon! Tonight, getting a little nervous considering I start tomorrow, but I'll get through it. Funny, I was just on CL about ten minutes ago. Nothing but overpriced stuff, which I expect this time of year. I haven't really looked for loads yet, I've considered a grapple load, but would like to find a decent vendor, maybe 7 to 10 cords worth would be nice. I'd be able to blow through that pretty fast, and would be in good shape.
You are too far north for me to be any help finding a load, but log-length prices delivered down here are $100/cord this Fall, and I'd expect it would be similar or less up there.
It was down to $90/cord several years ago, but has been over $100 the past several. I'm just speculating, but up your way there are fewer people and at least as many loggers. The mild winter (easier logging and less firewood burned), plus the hardwood pulp markets are soft, have brought prices down from the $125/$130 range where it had been for a year or two. The dry summer has kept crews in the woods all summer, too. There is a firewood processor near here still paying more but limiting the deliveries per week.
Good info. I'll try and see what we have for suppliers up here. Maybe I'll get a good price and get ahead with the supply.
Looking good Man. Best of luck to you and yours. Sounds to me like you are livin the dream. My hats off to ya.
