Had the first fire damp windy and rainy day nice get dry the house up and take the chill off. Burning some silver maple.
I was tempted to do the same the other day......but reluctantly held off! Usually sometime in the next two weeks or so, is the time of year we fire up. Looks cozy, Farmboy707!
I was just asking the ornery one if she wanted a fire as it is cool in here but not cold. She said no, so no fire tonight although we've had a couple. FWIW, it appears by next weekend most will be having fires to keep things toasty indoors. First comes a warm front then after 2 days a cold front with much lower temperatures.
We've had three fires so far but with this warmer weather , we won't be having one this week. The fire looks good Farmboy707 .
Looks cozy. Shouldn't be too long here, maybe a month or so. Want to build a raised hearth before I burn but it's pretty low priority right now.
Had three fires this weekend. Mostly because it was so damp. It wasn't really cold. Like you said, Farmboy. Couldn't help myself. I usually dont build my first fire till after Thanksgiving
We fired up the furnace for the first time today to cure the paint and make sure all systems are a go. Opened up all the windows and it was still an inferno with it running and the warm weather. Turns out the thermostat isn't opening the damper so we will have the installer back to sort that out before it cools down again. Very much looking forward our first winter with wood heat in over 10 years.
Is that the furnace in your sig? We need pics I did the same last night...first fire in the new-to-us Drolet 1400i to cure the paint...literally just two handfuls of wood and it still raised the house temp 4*...maybe a lil too early to tell, but I think I'm really gonna like this unit...pics to come
It is. She's not too fancy but does work very well. Turns out the damper only opens about a 1/8" to a 1/4" when the thermostats kicks it on so it works as intended. I figured it would open more. I am very interested to see the pics your Drolet. I have heard great things about them. Here's a pic I took for the insurance company and one of tonight's small fire to take the damp out.
