I wish we could get some rain! Right now we are 11 inches below normal for rainfall and the ground is powder dry some 4 feet deep. They say if we do not get rain in the next two months we are in serious trouble because the ground will freeze and anything we get won't go into the groundwater until spring thaw in April.
I'm wishing right there alongside ya LodgedTree , There is talk of possible tropical rain coming up from the hurricane next week. Too far out to know for sure. Today/tomorrow we'll take what we get from the showers coming.
TS/ hurricane Matthew is it? That's my son's name, so when he got home I asked if he was gonna turn into a cat 5...... He just looked at me
The weather forecaster here (also know as a soothsayer) says all the computer models showing it going right out to sea after it hits North Carolina. We'll see, but it doesn't look like much rain. The USDA declared half of Maine a natural disaster due to the drought too. Missed my county, but it may creep up this way. I am okay, I got plenty of land for grazing and just enough hay to make it through the winter.
That low has dropped south of us but we're still getting wrap-around effect. It rained most of the day here. It finally stopped so I went in back to try to get something done and as soon as I got back there, it started raining again. So I came back to the barn and put the windshield on the atv. Hoping the rain will stop or close to stop for hunting this weekend.
Depending on the weather, I would like to finish this end of the new trail tomorrow which will include dropping about 3-4 pines. It looks like we'll get some rain early this morning.
Will the trail go left then where the sun is shining in? It can be full sun here, but when I go into the woods it seems like dusk. Once i started the trail, the sun was wonderful. I guess you'll get some rounds to bring back.
Yes, that is part of the main trail where the sun is, the trail will go straight through and once I get more time it will go to the left when looking at the picture.
I have some cleanup at the far end and some stump lowering but come Wednesday the trail will be open. We put the cable on all three pines just to make sure they came through the tops of the other pines, the wife did a great job on the rhino. We had four bucket loads of pine (three pictured) from the trees which I'll start splitting tomorrow after we take down the pole bean trellis.
Great job Mrs Woody and thewoodlands. Nice having a helper I'm sure! Does your bucket hold more than the tub?
The first two pics are a before and after, I did enough chipping to open up the new trail. Tomorrow should be a day of dropping more chitty pine that need to be cleared on my wife's walking trail.
I did do some trail clearing on the wife's walking trail today, I have some pics but they're still in the camera, I'll put them up in a bit. I dropped about four pine and one of those (last few pictures) was rotten when I started cutting the notch but all went well. There were about 3 or 4 rotten smaller pine I pushed over.
But every time I look up or around the area we have 10-15 trees that need to come down. I need some wet weather so I can burn this stuff.
