What a clever idea with the weights on a rope holding down the tarp, I would imagine the that would help stop water from pooling on top. Thanks for the reminder, time to move some wood indoors.

I got the idea from someone on here. It works well and it does keep the water off and really helps when it's windy out. I was going to split some wood today but the rain ruined my plans, oh well gotta do it on another day that's it's dry out and off from work

Same here with the weather, if I can catch a window i'll buck and split more today, I have a pile that needs about 15 more rounds split to make and even 4 cord pile.

Another idea for weights is using milk bottles filled with sand or dirt. Cheap weights but looks a bit strange.

I moved some wood up on the back porch, lows getting into the high 30s. Won't be long now. :D

Mine's coming to the covered front porch about the second week of October. I've got about a cord and a half of black oak way up the hill that's been split and stacked for 5 + years now, but 95% of it has to be shortened because it was cut for a fireplace and not my insert.:headbang:

In NM? I know the temp swings between day and night are more than we have here, but are you at altitude as well?

Socorro is over 100 miles south of me, so we usually have considerably colder winters. I'm close to Jemez Springs, about 35 miles sw of Los Alamos.
