Hey Guys and Gals. Hope all is well. Been some time since I've been active on FHC. Stove plans didn't turn out as planned. Sold most of my saws, sold most of my wood stacks, but sometimes a guy just wants to CSS.... On to the Pics. Load 1 from the city brush site.
2nd trip.ended up short. I briefly grounded the B&C on the 034 (hasn't been ran since winter 2014) went to the McCulloch I brought for backup. Loaded up and called it a success. Maple, honey locust and mulberry.
Believe it or not. We do have trees around here. Think it's around 1 per 100 sq miles though. Scrounge pile pic and a mulberry stump I wasn't ready to tackle. Fiskars x27 for size reference.
Yup. We've said before that Amarillo has more armadillos than trees! We've sailed through there a few times. Helps if you go east and just put up the sail! Good to see you back Slim.
A little splitting (temp stacking area). I will spend the rest of today's sun working up the remaining rounds.
Well, that might just be for looks.; like in setting the ambiance of the photograph. I am looking at that piece to the right of the maul thinking that would be hard to split by hand.
I was wondering if the white "stuff" on the ground was "noodling" to cut notches for splitting wedges?
Yes. "The white stuff" is silver maple saw chips. I sawed a kerf into a few rounds to make spliting easier but that was on the mulberry.
Wood is wood and you got yourself some! It is nice to be working it up, and thanks for nice pics. Enjoy yourself and go get load # 3.
Load 3. Bodark and a few Apple splits for the smoker. Almost forgot... The load is all 20% or less MC excluding the two trunk wood rounds.
